Higgins, the granddaughter of George W. King tells us,
"I believe George Wesley King was born on 11 May 1873 (possibly
in Kentucky as his father served in a Kentucky Civil War unit).
He worked at the Yellow Poplar Mill in Coal Grove, Ohio and later
attended National Normal University. After this training he was
a teacher in the Ohio area for 11 years and also served as a Teacher's
Examiner. He went on to attend Medical School in Cincinnati and
graduated in 1910. He began his practice in Millersport, Ohio and
a couple years later moved back to South Point/Coal Grove area.
He also gave physicals to the soldiers during WWI. George had 7
children. His son, Charles, (Carolyn's father) who passed away in
March of 2005 was the last surviving child.
- The photo at left is cropped from the 21 July
