MARY ANN ROYE

Miss Mary Anna Roye, one of the few remaining Shakers, died at Union Village, Monday morning at 8 o’clock, having attained the ripe old age of 85 years, 3 months and 15 days.

Miss Roye was born at Rochester, N. Y., August 31, 1834. She came to the Shaker Village here when 8 years of age, thus having been a member of the Society some 77 years. There now remains but six members – four ladies and two gentlemen. Four of these are past 80 years of age.

Funeral services for Miss Roye were held at Union Village yesterday at 1:30 p. m. Burial in Lebanon Cemetery
