Catherine Harner.
Catherine, daughter of John and Ruth Hoff, was born at South Lebanon,
Ohio, January 7, 1813 and died February 11, 1908, aged 96 years, 1 month
and 4 days. With the exception of a few years in Butler county she had
always lived in Warren county. Her parents came to this county in the
early days from New Jersey. She was the last surviving member of a family
of seven children.
On August 7, 1831, she was married to John Harner and to them were born
nine children, five of whom survive. They are: Mrs. Ruth Dearth, Mrs.
Julia S. Brown, Frank and Jacob Harner, who reside here and Mrs. Elizabeth
Marsh, of Middletown. She also left fourteen grandchildren, eighteen great
grandchildren, and one great great grandchild. Her husband died twenty
two years ago and since that time she had made her home with her son,
Frank.
During the past several years she was unable to get around very well but
she never complained and was contented to sit in her chair where one could
always find her with the Bible as her companion. Although not member of
any church she read God's words and prayed to Him faithfully and firmly
believed in the great hereafter, and we know that the Master called her
into His kingdom as one with a pure, untainted soul.
She was always ready to go but often said she wanted to live just as long
as God wanted her to and never did we hear her express the wish to die.
When the Master called her she was sitting quietly in her chair as usual
and we, in our grief are thankful that she could be spared from suffering.
She retained her mental faculties to the very last and, although so old,
she never grew childish in any way.
Everyone loved this kind, old lady, for all were the same to her, friends
and strangers alike were given a kind word and pleasant smile. Her long
life was well spent and although we shall miss her we know she is happy
in her heavenly home and do not wish her back to this world of sorrow
and trouble. We only hope to meet her some day when we shall part no more.
The funeral services were held in the chapel Thursday afternoon at two
o'clock and were conducted by the Rev. Mr. Hunter after which six grandsons
bore her to her last resting place in Lebanon
cemetery.

Edward Sherman Harner (1868-1944)
Harner Services Are Held Monday
Ed Harner, aged 75, died Friday morning following an illness of several
weeks. He lived at the Bryan home on East Silver street.
A former constable here, he was at one time associated with the Western
& Southern Insurance Company and also operated a livery stable here.
He was a member of the Presbyterian Church and Red Men's lodge.
Funeral services were held Monday afternoon in the Oswald Funeral Home
with burial in Lebanon
Cemetery.
His wife succumbed in 1939. He has no survivors.

Obituary.
Frank Harner, son of John and Catherine Huff [sic
- Hoff] Harner, was born near Lebanon, September 13th, 1839,
and died Sunday, December 5th, 1926, aged 87 years, two months and twenty-two
days. He was of a family of nine children. One of that number is left,
Mrs. Julia Brown. He enlisted during the war and served over two years.
He was a member of Company E.
79th Regiment.
He was united in marriage to Mary Minerva Scofield, March 10th, 1866.
To this union one son was born, Edward Sherman.
He leaves to mourn this loss, a devoted wife and son, one sister, several
nieces and nephews and a host of neighbors and friends. He has resided
in the neighborhood east of Lebanon for more than forty-two years.

Jacob Harner
Jacob Harner, son of John and Catherine Harner born in Warren County,
Ohio July 25, 1847; died September 30, 1916, aged 69 years 2 months 5
days. He married in April 1871 to Althea J. Scofield and to this union
were born two children. His wife and children have passed to the Great
Beyond. His whole life was spent in the vicinity. For over thirty years
he labored for the Shakers. He leaves two sisters and one brother besides
a host of relatives and friends to mourn his death.

John Harner
Mr. John Harner, formerly one of the best citizens of Warren county died
at his home about two miles east of Middletown on Sunday morning January
17, of extreme old age. He was a native of Rockbridge county, Virginia,
and was born in 1802. At the age of four years, he came with his parents
to this part of Ohio. Here he grew to manhood, was married and his children
grew up around him. He learned the blacksmith trade and the older citizens
of Lebanon all remember his shop in the west end of town. Some years ago
he moved to a farm near Middletown, where the last years of his life were
spent in quiet. The remains were brought to Lebanon on Tuesday and entered
in the old Methodist grave yard.

John D. Harner (1833-1906
Another Soldier Gone
The death of John D. Harner occurred at the house of his sister, Mrs.
Belle Hill, on west Main Street Thursday, May 3. He had been in
his usual good health up to Wednesday night when he had a stroke of paralysis,
never regaining consciousness. The funeral ___ were held Saturday
at 2 o'clock from his sister's residence and were in charge of Granville
Thurston Post.
Mr. Harner was born near Lebanon, November 13, 1838. On August 11,
1862 he enlisted in Company G,
89th O. V. I. and was mustered out at Washington D.C. June 7, 1865
the close of the war. With his regiment he participated in the battles
of Chickamauga, Missionary Ridge, Rocky Face, Kenessaw Mountain and other
principal battles of the __alian campaign. He marched with Sherman
to the sea and across the Carolinas and Virginia to Washington D. C. he
was a loyal and patriotic soldier.
Mr. Harner lived the last few years with his sister, Mrs. Belle Hill,
in Lebanon, and during his stay here won for himself many friends who
enjoyed his interesting and instructive conversations. He was a
man of a quiet, retiring disposition and what he did was sincere and earnest.

Mary Minerva Harner (1843-1934)
Services Held Tuesday For Mrs. Mary Harner
Funeral services were held Tuesday for Mrs. Mary Minerva Harner, widow
of the late Frank Harner, whose death occurred Sunday at her home on West
Mulberry street. Services were held at the Oswald Funeral Home at 2 o'clock
and burial was made in the Lebanon
cemetery.
Mrs. Harner was born in Indiana August 5, 1843 and would have been 91
years of age had she lived until next month. For a number of years she
had made her home with her son, Ed. Harner, of Lebanon.
