Mrs. A. C. Fye, 714 Wabash avenue, died at 5:45 o'clock this morning in Memorial Hospital. She had been in poor health for some time and in the hospital four days. Death was due to a complication of ailments. Mrs. Fye was 73 years old.

Mrs. Fye, as Minnie Matthews, was born March 24, 1866, in Charleston, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Perry Matthews. Her father was a former superintendent of schools in this county. When she was five years old the family moved to Greenfield, Mo. where they resided until 1886. Mrs. Fye attended school in Greenfield and Illinois State Normal University at Normal. From Missouri the family moved to Janesville and Mrs. Fye taught school there about five years. She then came to Mattoon and for several years taught at the Lowell School in this city. She was married to Mr. Fye of Mattoon Nov. 8, 1905, and since had resided here.

Surviving besides her husband are three sons, Paul M. of Kansas City, Mo., W. Edgar of Paducah, Ky., and Albert C. of Chicago, and two brothers, George L. Matthews of Los Angeles, Cal. and J. T. Matthews of Mattoon.

Mrs. Fye for many years was a prominent and active member of the First Methodist Church.
