Ferdinand M. Dugan (1834-1915) VETERAN CLAIMED BY FLAMES. The body of Ferdinand Dugan, 81, Civil war veteran, was discovered partly burned in his home 4 miles north of Lebanon last Wednesday by neighbors who were attracted to the place by a blaze which was fast consuming his house. The man never regained consciousness, altho he lived for two hours afeter he was discovered. Mr. Dugan served in the Civil war and was confined in the famous Libby prison for almost a year. He lived by himself and the origin of the conflagration leading to his death is a mystery. Burial took place Saturday at the Kirby Graveyard. Captain Al Brant was the only old soldier present at the services, which is a striking indication that the veterans are rapidly fading out." Source: "Veteran Claimed
