Major Joseph L. BuddMAJOR JOS. L. BUDD DIES IN CINCINNATI Ripe in years, four score and eight, rich in good deeds and beloved by all who knew him, the earthly life of Major Joseph L. Budd tapered down to death at the home of his granddaughter, Mrs. Jos. A. Schats, Hyde Park, Cincinnati, last Sunday. His mortal remains were brought here and buried in the Lebanon Cemetery on Tuesday. The deceased was in his 88th year, having been born at Mt. Holly, N. J., June 24, 1834. He resided in Ohio the greater portion of his life and for many years was a successful merchant here in Lebanon. His home while here was the present residence of Judge Hamilton. Later he resided in Hamilton, Ohio, and at Cincinnati. Early in the Civil War he enlisted as a soldier in the Union army and he was the first captain of Company A, 35th, O. V. I., in which were many Warren county boys. In a short time he was promoted to major of his regiment, in which capacity he served until the regiment was mustered out. He was married in Lebanon to Miss Catherine Boylan, who survives him. He was made a Master Mason in Lebanon on February 25, 1854, and he was probably the oldest member of the Lebanon lodge. He was an active and earnest member of the Episcopal church and when a resident of Lebanon, took a deep interest in the G__ ___ which he assisted in founding. His death is deeply regretted by a large circle of Warren county friends. Source: The Western Star, Lebanon, Ohio,
