OBITUARY
William Thomas Barnhart, eldest son of John H. Barnhart and Abigail French,
was born in Waynesville, Ohio, on June 23, 1845, and departed this life
on January 6, 1922 aged 76 years 6 months and 12 days.
On the 25th day of July, 1863 at Waynesville, Ohio, he enlisted for a
period of 6 months as a private in Company
E, Fourth Independent Battalion Ohio Vol. Cavalry and was mustered
out on the 12th day of March, 1864, at Cincinnati, Ohio. He reenlisted
for a period of three years as a private in Company E, 13th Regiment Ohio
Vol. Cavalry and was mustered out August 1, 1865 at Petersburg, Va., having
served a period of two years and 8 months.
His wife preceded him to the Great Beyond many years ago but he leaves
to mourn their loss one daughter, Mrs. Joseph Benner of Meron, Ind., four
grand children and one sister, Mrs. Frank Gallaher of Lebanon, Ohio.
Practically his entire life was spent in Warren county, the past ten years
having been passed her in Lebanon at the home of his sister where he will
be sadly missed, not only by the family but by the many friends he had
made, especially among the children of the neighborhood, by his ever kind
and thoughtful disposition.
