Thomas M. Ballard, 77, of 802-D S. Main St. Franklin, died Saturday,
Jan. 29, 2000, at Franklin Ridge. He was born in Menifee County, Ky.,
on Sept. 12, 1922, the son of Brack and Anna Ballard. He was a veteran
of WWII, serving in the
U.S. Army in Normandy, France, Ardennes, Rhineland and Central Europe.
He received the Fame Theater Ribbon with five bronze stars, Good
Conduct Ribbon, Bronze Arrowhead and the WWII Victory Medal. He was employed
with the city of Franklin for 13 years in maintenance, retiring in 1977.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Betty in 1967; a
brother, Claude Ballard; three sisters, Nora Williamson, Mary Spencer
and Stella Conway. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Martha (Whiteman)
Ballard; three sons, William Ballard, Jerry Ballard and wife Pam, Eddie
Ballard and wife Mary, all of Franklin; two daughters, Linda Hibbard and
husband Ralph of Franklin, Debbie Caudill and husband Robert of Thornhill,
Tenn.; a sister, Josie Williams of Means, Ky.; eight grandchildren, Michelle
Moore of Franklin, Thomas Hibbard and wife Kelly of Middletown, James
Ballard of Franklin, Nelson and Benny Caudill both of Thornhill, Tenn.,
Matthew, Jamie and Zachory Ballard all of Franklin; one great-grandchild,
Tyler Hibbard of Middletown and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services
will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Eaton-Anderson Funeral Home, with the Rev.
Arthur Whiteman and Rev.John Williams officiating. Visitation will be
from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be i n Woodhill
Cemetery with full military honors.
