On last Saturday the residence of Norman Brown, Esq., about three and one half miles east of town, was the scene of an exceedingly pleasant and happy family reunion. Mr. Brown, who is now sixty-six years old, is one of our sturdy citizens, having reared a large family in this vicinity, and having gone through the late war, fighting at the side of his boys. Mrs. Brown is now sixty-two years old, and has for several years been in rather delicate health. All the family were home on Saturday, fourteen children, together with fourteen grandchildren, all of whom in a group were photographed in the afternoon. And one peculiar circumstance connected with this family is the fact that out of fifteen children, fourteen are now living, and are equally divided, seven girls-grown -and seven boys-all men save the youngest, who is fifteen yeaas [sic] old. There were no outsiders at this reunion save the family physician, Dr. Scoville and wife, and family minister, Rev. T. A. Brandon and wife. A bountiful feast was prepared and a most enjoyable time had, closing with singing, and two short addresses by Rev. Brandon and Dr. Scoville. Source: |
