ELDER
CHARLES CLAPP. To the editor of the Gazette: Please say that Elder Charles brought his family to the Shakers, and his wife not feeling inclined to join the society, and he feeling that he could henceforth live no other life, turned every cent of his property and money over to his family but eighteen cents, which he threw into a hedge before he reached Union Village. These are the facts, and we shall feel obliged by their publication, both for the sake of our truly good and venerable elder and that of the society. Yours truly, |
