The 1500 acre Survey #4592 was patented to Francis Taylor
by President James Madison on May 15, 1809 [Deed Book 73: 150] Francis Taylor sold 600 acres on the west end of the survey to James Wilkerson for $1350 on 30 Aug 1813 [Deed Book 4: 356] James Wilkerson sold 238 acres in the southwest part of the survey to James Wilkerson for "love & ec" on 26 Oct 1829 [Deed Book 19: 494] James Wilkerson sold 1 acre for a burying ground to Trustees of Wilkerson Grave Yard for $1 on 27 Jul 1854 [Deed Book 34: 238] [18 poles by 8 7/8 poles is equivalent to 297 feet by 146.4 feet. Current records at the County Recorders office lists the dimensions of the parcel as 138.77 feet by 94.19 feet.] |

James Wilkerson
to Trustees of Wilkerson Grave Yard.
Know all men, that we James Wilkerson and Mahala Wilkerson of the County of Warren and State of Ohio in consideration of One Dollar paid by Paul Vandervort, George F. Longstreth and William Settlemyre, Trustees and their successors in office for the use of the Wilkerson family particularly, the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, do hereby bargain, sell and convey to the said Paul Vandervort, George F. Longstreth and William Settlemyre, and their successors in office forever, the following real estate viz: Situated in the County of Warren and State of Ohio survey – for James Wilkerson being a part of the land deeded to me by my father which my father purchased of Francis Taylor, The object of this deed is to convey one acre of land for the use of a bury ground, a part of which ground has been occupied for many years, and is known as the Wilkerson burying ground – The survey commences at a stone at the South East corner, thence N. 3 ¼ ° W. 18 poles to a stone corner, thence S. 89 ¼° W. 8 7/8 poles to a stone corner, thence S. ¾° E. 18 poles to a stone corner, thence N. 89 ¼° E. 8 7/8 poles to the beginning, containing one acre of land – Also a gateway to pass to and from said grave yard to the State road, which passes through the above described farm – Together will all the privileges and appurtenances to the same belonging. To have and to hold the same to the said Paul Vandervort, George F. Longstreth and William Settlemyre, and their successors in office forever. And the said James Wilkerson and Mahala Wilkerson for themselves and their heirs do hereby covenant with said Paul Vandervort, George F. Longstreth and William Settlemyre, and their successors in office that they are lawfully seized of the premises aforesaid, that the premises are free and clear from all incumbrances whatsoever, and that they will forever warrant and defend the same with the appurtenances unto the said Paul Vandervort, George F. Longstreth and William Settlemyre, and their successors in office against the lawful claims of all persons whomsoever. In witness whereof the said James Wilkerson and Mahala Wilkerson wife of the said James Wilkerson have hereunto set their hands and seals this 27th day of July in the year eighteen hundred and fifty four.
