Warren County, Ohio, Virtual Cemetery Project |
Old Compton Farm Cemetery Wayne Township, Warren County, Ohio [or perhaps Spring Valley Twp, Greene County, Ohio] |
Lewis Booker received Bounty Land Warrant #2331 for 4,000 acres in consideration of seven years of military service to the United States as a Captain in the Virginia Line on Continental establishment. For part of this warrant, he had a 275 acre parcel of land surveyed on 23 Oct 1798. The land was patented to him by President Thomas Jefferson as Survey #1013 situated "between the Little Miami and Sciota Rivers, north-west of the River Ohio" on 20 Feb 1802. Most of Survey #1013 is located in Wayne Twp, but a small portion on the north side extends into what is now Spring Valley Township, Greene County, Ohio. Laura
Dussault provides this information regarding the early ownership
of this land by the Compton family: Laura
