JAMES W. MOUNTS, farmer, P. O., Morrow, was born in this township and is a son of Providence and Isabelle Mounts, (see sketch of William C. Mounts.) He was reared on the farm, and in the district schools received an ordinary education. In 1865 he was married to Elizabeth Davis, of Union Co., Ind., who has bore him three children, viz.: Harry, Catherine and Eugene. In 1862 he enlisted in the 4th Iowa Cavalry, Co. A, and took part in the battles of Vicksburg, Pittsburg Landing, Franklin, and many others of lesser note. Was first Sergeant of his Company, and was honorably discharged in 1865. He resided in Iowa eight years previous to the war. He owns 100 acres of land, which is in an excellent state of cultivation and well improved. |
