I don't live in Vinton County, but my 4th great grandparents, Downey Reed and Elsey DeHart moved from Virginia to Ohio in about 1805. They lived in Clinton Township, then part of Jackson County. In 1852, Downey's son, Patrick Reed, built a brick mansion between Hamden and Dundas at Reed's Mill on Little Raccoon Creek. The picture on the right is of Patrick's son, my great-great- grandfather. This page is dedicated to all of my Reed ancestors. If you are a descendant of Downey Reed, I'd love to hear from you. |

In May of 1997, this project was organized by Jeff Murphy, using the established KY Biographies Project as a model. State coordinators were sought to set up their own state project. They were offered the system design and tools created for the KY project, but were free to set up their project in any way they chose. I am Mary Lou Cook, the coordinator for Vinton County, Ohio. Volunteers are needed to enter, edit, and archive the biographies for each project. If you have biographies you would like to donate for Vinton County, please contact me. If you would like to volunteer to coordinate a county please contact the Ohio State Coordinator Tina Hursh. |
