Joyce Christopher Eichler, 10, son of Mr. and, Mrs. J. L. Eichler, of Center township, died after a complicated illness of two years. Surviving are the parents, a twin brother John William and brothers Dale and Paul. Funeral services were held from the St. John Lutheran church in Celina, conducted by Rev. Einfalt. Burial in North Grove cemetery.

J. WESLEY WEAVER DIES FOLLOWING BRIEF ILLNESS
Prominent Farmer of Jennings Township Passed Away at the Lima Memorial Hospital, Early Monday Morning - In Hospital Only Three Days - On the Ohio State Fair Board For Years - Active in Grange Work - Final Rites Were Held at the Local Trinity Methodist Church Yesterday Afternoon.
Death claimed J. Wesley Weaver, prominent farmer of Jennings township, living six miles northwest of Spencerville at 2 a. m., Monday morning. Death was due to lukemia, a blood infection.
Mr. Weaver passed away at the Lima Memorial hospital, where he was taken as a patient on Friday.
Joel Wesley Weaver was the son of Samuel and Harriet (Reddick) Weaver, and was born in Jennings township, Van Wert county, July 7, 1870. At the time of his death he was 70 years, 5 months and 9 days of age.
His entire lifetime was spent in the Jennings township district. Always interested in the advancement of agriculture, he served a number of terms as a member of the Van Wert County Agriculture Society; a number of years as a member of the Ohio State Fair Board, where he was in charge of the swine department. His term on the latter board expired last October.
He was very active in Grange work the state over. Just recently he was named as a special deputy of the Ohio Grange, a post he held several times. Two years ago he and his wife were presented with a 50-year service emblem for active Grange work.
He was a member of the Trinity United Methodist church, Spencerville, where he had served as chorister.
He is survived by his wife, Idora; 2 daughters, Mrs. Osborne Jones, Venedocia, and Mrs. J. A. Owens, of Des Moines, Iowa; a brother, O. O. Weaver, of Lima; son-in-law, L. G. Jones, of Marion; also 5 grandchildren.
Final services were held yesterday afternoon at 2 o'clock, at the local Trinity Methodist church, in charge of Rev. I. F. Andrews, and C. B. Miller & Son, and interment was made in the Spencerville cemetery.

RETIRED WREN FARMER DIES
Elmer E. Pence, 84, Stricken at county Home Hospital
Elmer E. Pence, 84, retired farmer of Wren, died at 8:30 A.M. Sunday at the County Home Hospital following a four weeks' illness. Mr. Pence, a son of the late Jackson and Mary Kear-Pence, was born February 27, 1862 in Willshire Township and spent all of his life in Wren community. His wife, the former Clara Baxter, preceded him in death.  Surviving are three children, Frank Pence of Sherwood, Mich., Mrs Chris Bellogrus of Richmond, Ind., and Mrs. Harry Armstrong of Fort Wayne Ind., and two sisters, Mrs. Amanda Brown and Mrs. Emma Glatheart both of Huntington, Ind.  Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2 P.M. at the Wren Liberal United Brethren Church with Rev. Smith officiating. Burial will be in Riverside cemetary at Rockford. Friends may call at the Cowan & son Funeral Home until 1:30 P.M. Wednesday when the body will be taken to the church.

Funeral services for Charles Hoeken, 78, retired postmaster of Dixon, Ohio, were held last Sunday afternoon at the Dixon Methodist church. Mr. Hoeken was born in Chicago in 1871, and moved to Dixon with his parents at age 4. He was named postmaster in 1897 and operated a store along with his federal duties. His only immediate survivor is a brother, W.T. Hoeken of Van Wert. Burial was made in the Mentzer Church cemetery.

Mr. Hasenkamp Dies in Michigan
Word has been received of the sudden death of Hubert Hasenkamp of Hudson Mich. Mr. Hasenkamp died Tuesday in Hudson.
He was the brother of Herman and Paul Hasenkamp, Mrs Gilbert Trentman and Mrs Ed Blankemeyer, all of Delphos, Mrs. Thomas Calvelage of Ft. Jennings and Mrs. Robert Calvelage, Lima.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m Saturday in the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Hudson and burial will be made in that city.

Grace Hartshorn, retired local schoolteacher dies
Miss Grace M. Hartshorn, 84, of 333 West First St, the residence of Roy and the late Mary Feathers, died suddenly at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the residence.
A retired school teacher, Miss Hartshorn taught 44 years in the Delphos school system. She retired in 1949. Miss Hartshorn also taught 11 years as a substitute teacher here.
Miss Hartshorn was graduated in 1902 from Delphos High School. She studied further at Columbia University, New York, Yipsilanti, Mich., and Miami University at Oxford.
She began her teaching career in 1905 in a one-room school in Jennings Township near Venedocia. After two years there, she began teaching in the Delphos School System where she was principal of the Old Franklin School for 25 years.
Miss Hartshorn also taught in the old Garfield school for four years before her retirement.
Because she wanted to teach in the present Franklin building, she substituted one day there.
She was born Dec. 25, 1884 in Allen County.
Survivors include three nephews and two nieces of Delphos, Columbus and Costa Mesa, Calif.
She was a member of the National Retired Teachers Association, Ohio Education Association, and the local branch of the Ohio Education Association.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 Saturday morning at Harter and Son Memorial Chapel, with the Rev. Otto Wortman officiating. The remains will be cremated, with Interment of the ashes in Walnut Grove Cemetery.
Friends may call after 7 tonight at the funeral home.

SUDDEN DEATH
Of a Leading Citizen of Van Wert.
Perrin DePuy is no More.
One by one the pioneers of this county are passing away, and their places are being filled by others. Seldom have these changes been more keenly felt than in the death of the person whose name heads this article, because but few have resided longer in the county, and none have been more active and energetic while living. Perrin DePuy removed to this town in the year 1845, and entered upon the practice of the law, and, after a successful practice of about five years, became interested in the gold excitement of California and forming a company from this section of the country, crossed the plans in search of the rich gold fields reported to be in that region.-Not being as successful in the mines of the West as in the woods of Van Wert, after an absence of about two years, he returned to this place, much reduced in finances, and again entered his profession with renewed energy, and has since that time, been engaged in its practice; though for the last few years he has been working himself out of business. Having accumulated a goodly portion of this world's goods, and having but few dependent upon him, he was beginning to work more for pleasure than profit. To this end he was given his attention somewhat to agriculture, in which he took especial interest and pleasure. He had cleared, improved and drained two or three farms to suit his own peculiar taste, and, by this example, was teaching an important lesson to much older farmers than him- self.
On last Friday morning Mr. DePuy entered his office in apparently as good health as usual. In a few minutes he complained of a severe pain in his head. and in a moment fell from his seat in an entire helpless condition, from which time he never moved a muscle, though he continued to breathe until Saturday night, at half-past ten o'clock, when he passed away. Apoplexy, in its most fatal form. had seized him and all efforts of kind friends and skilled physicians failed to relieve him from its first attack.
Thus has passed away, without a moment's warning, one who has mingled with the citizens of Van Wert for a quarter of a century; and who has been identified with its growth and prosperity, and has shared its hardships and adversities one who had justly acquired a character for industry, frugality, exactness and strict integrity.

Graveside services for Mrs. Roberta Hartzell, 92, formerly of Van Wert, are to be at 11 am Friday in Woodland Cemetery Van Wert. The Rev William Stewart will officiate.
Mrs Hartzell died at 7:05 Wednesday in Delphos Memorial Home following a long illness.
Her husband, Earl E. died Jan 29 1963.
Surviving are a son, H. Weikert Hartzell of Clark Lake, Mich, a daughter, Mrs. Harold (Myrdith) Ireton of Rt 2, Van Wert, three grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Friends may call after 7 pm today at Alspach Funeral Home, Van Wert.

Funeral Tuesday for woman
killed in car-train accident
Services will be 1 p. m. Tuesday Funeral Home, 900 West Grand Ave Lima, for Lisa L. King, 18, of 9060 Ridge Rd., Rt. 2, Delphos, who was killed in a car-train accident at 12:20 a.m. Saturday. The Reverend Leonard L. Klotz will officiate. Burial will be in Sugar Ridge Cemetery of Leipsic.
Troopers of the Lima post of the State Highway Patrol said Miss King's auto was northbound on Kemp Road when her car was struck by a westbound train on ConRail tracks.
Miss King was thrown from her auto on impact, according to troopers Allen County Coroner Dr William Noble pronounced Miss King dead on arrival at St Rita's Medical Center at approximately 1:30 a m from a broken neck.
She was born Feb. 17 1960 to Paul R. and Betty (Ramsey) King. Her father is deceased. Her mother resides at 9060 Ridge Rd.
Other survivors include a brother, Jack A. of Lima; a sister, Mrs Patrick (Jill) Bloomfield of Defiance and paternal grand mother. Mrs. Daisy King of Brower Road Lima.
She was employed by Ex-Cell-O Corp of Lima, and was a member of St Mark's United Methodist Church, Lima, and a 1978 graduate of Jefferson Senior High School.
Friends may call from 2-4 and 7-9 p m. today at the funeral home.

INDIANAPOLIS -- Fonzie E. Fair, 64, Indianapolis, died Tuesday at the Veterans Hospital in Indianapolis. Born in Campbellsville, Ky., he was the son of Joe T. and Marty B. (Sweeney) Fair. He was a Korean War Air Force veteran and had worked at the Naval Surface Warfare Center-Crane and at a meat packing plant. He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 111 in Mooresville. Surviving are two sons: Donald L. Fair of Bedford and Fonzie E. Fair II of Indianapolis; two daughters: Josie Parsley of Springville and Cindy Strunk of Oolitic; three brothers: Lewis Fair of Louisville, Ky., Fount Fair of Campbellsville, Ky., and Tommie Fair of Gardner, N.C.; three sisters: Buelie Mills of Mooresville, Edna Mills of Indianapolis and Roxie Nicholas of Lafayette; five grandchildren and one great-granddaughter. He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Danny Fair and two brothers: Dallas and Joseph Fair.
Services will be 11:30 a.m. Thursday at G.H. Herrmann Madison Avenue Funeral Home, Indianapolis. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens Cemetery in Greenwood. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
