Police reports in Van Wert newspapers

Harvey Moyer, of South Tyler street, reported at police headquarters Sunday that his bicycle was missing after being parked at the Church of Christ at Crawford and Jefferson streets.  Later the bicycle was found abandoned at the curb line on South Washington street.

The Van Wert Daily Bulletin, July 9, 1928

Harold Stewart reported at police headquarters that a motor meter was stolen from his automobile Sunday evening.

The city fire department responded to a still alarm Saturday afternoon to Jennings road at Mackinaw Field to extinguish fire in an automobile owned by Clyde Spaulding of Frothingham street. The blaze wrecked the body of the car but did not damage the engine nor tires. The blaze is believed to have originated from the wiring system.

The Van Wert Daily Bulletin, July 16, 1928

The safe at the Matthys & Bower gasoline filling station and tire shop on North Washington street was robbed this morning about 11:00 o'clock. While Messrs. Matthys and Bower were momentarily absent from the main room, $20.00 in paper money was stolen from the safe. The safe door was found ajar. The stolen money comprised three five dollar bills and five one dollar bills.
