Researcher: Linda Libician

Date posted: Saturday, January 2, 1999

I am looking for any information on the family of Jacob and Mary MOORE who moved to Sandusky Co OH around 1833 from PA. They had at least one son Isaac MOORE who married Barbara Overmyer. I have quite a bit of information on Isaac, but little on Jacob, e.g. when and where he died and where he might be buried. Isaac moved to Henry County, but I have not found any evidence of Jacob in Henry county. I was wondering if anyone doing Sandusky Co research may have run into Jacob MOORE, or any other MOOREs for that matter.
Thank you kindly
Linda in TX

Researcher: Candy Bennett

Date posted: Monday, January 4, 1999

I am hoping to locate information regarding Elizabeth B. ROBERTSON BROWN. According to her father's will, filed August 7, 1891 in Erie Co., she (already a widow) inherited 5 acres of property in Sandusky Co. His description was as follows: ...situate in Townsend Township in Section Seven and adjoining the ten acres of land which I sold to Charles B. Morris and is on the crossroads running from Vickery to the Bay and from Venice to Fremont...

Based on current info, this should have been located in the area of Route 6. I am trying to determine just where this property was, and if she was living there for the 1900 census, and assuming she lived there until she died, just when she died. I am guessing that the land may have gone to her son after that. Trying to locate obits and death info from here in NJ is a challenge at best, so hoping someone in the local area might be able to assist.

I am also trying to locate descendants of Elizabeth and her husband, David BROWN, who were married ca 1853 in the Sandusky area. David's parents are buried in St. Joseph's Cemetery in Erie Co. as are several of Elizabeth's family members. The Robertsons were a prominent family in the Sandusky area - grocers for at least 3 generations according to Lewis Cass Aldrich's History of Erie Co. with the Robertson and Co. grocery and provisions company.
Her father William died in 1891; while her brother, William, Jr., died in 1885, leaving the business to his son, Charles.
At least one of Elizabeth's sons, David J., was also in business in that area.

Any assistance greatly appreciated.

Dear Shirley,

I don't know if you can help me or not, because I've been searching for this stuff for so long and keep running into a dead end. I am looking primarily for any birth info on my g-grandfather, Martin Luther LOUDENSLAGER. From all that I can gather through census records he was born in 1861, perhaps in Washington, Twp., Sandusky Co. He appears on the 1880 census as a grandchild in the Peter REED household. I think his mother is Susan REED ROW, who's listed directly above him on the record. I have not been able to find any evidence of his father, or the fact that Susan REED ROW is indeed his mother. I would greatly appreciate any help you can give me on this.

Also, I have reason to believe that Susan REED ROW had a child who died in infancy and is buried perhaps in the Four Mile House Cemetery in Washington Twp. If there's any way you can substantiate this for me I'd appreciate it also.

Thanks so much for doing this. Eileen Ellis, Peculiar, MO

Can anyone give me information on a family that lived in Sandusky, OH by the name of Moos?
Their names were Amos and Mary MOOS. They lived at 504 Hayes Avenue, with one son, Edward. The MOOS had a vineyard at the outskirts of Sandusky. This family was related to my great-great grandfather's family from Germany, but it is not know to whom they were related. Mary and Amos raised Anthony TRAUT when his father gave the children up, following their mothers' death. They may have also raised my great-grandfather, Henry TRAUT.

I would appreciate any help I might get on confirming this family's existence. Is the house at 504 Hayes still there; is the winery noted in any historical data?

What do you know about Augustus born 1758? I believe that the seven children you have is all there is. I found a few more BARBERs living near him in 1820 Huron County, Ohio. Huron becomes Sandusky after 1820.

Amaziah 26-45 years old 8 children
Augustus 7 children (ours)
Abijah has a male and female 26-45 and one over 45 this is either the parent
or has the parents living with him? 6 children
Hezekiah 26-45 years old with 5 children

Do you know anything about these Barbers? None of them are there in 1810 and they are all there together in 1820.

I hope to hear from you soon!

Maggie - thank you for you most generous offer. I am interested in finding out information on the wife of Jacob Henrichs. Her name was Barbara Frederick or FREONTTERT. Her data is below - along with Jacob's and their children. I have quite a bit on the HENRICHS line - as there is an old green book that takes that family back many years. Barbara has been a mystery though. I am not certain of her surname - as you can see. I would guess that it could be spelled very differently than I have - but I would imagine that it does begin with "FR........" - so it could even be Friedline - that was a name in one of the bibles I've seen - but - I have no proof that it was a name associated with Barbara. Since I have Barbara's birth, marriage and death dates - I thought perhaps you might have a resource that listed her. If this is too broad a request - just tell me and I will certainly understand.

Thank you very much for your time. (text follows)

Does anybody have any information on a Mary SNYDER who was married to a Francis RIFFLE in west Virginia? I know of one child, Orval Cleveland RIFFLE who was born in Chestnut Ridge, West Virginia around 1888 and was married to an Olive HIGLEY who died in Ohio in 1923. Orval died in Fremont, Sandusky Co., Ohio in 1940.

I have no idea how many more children Francis RIFFLE and Mary SNYDER may have had since those are the only names I have.

I'm trolling for leads right now so anything you may know will be helpful.

My name is Shirley (HELD) PRINDLE. I'm searching for any information I can find on my great grandfather Fred HELD who was born in Fremont, Ohio. I don't have his birthdate but he must've been born in the 1880's. He was the son of William HELD and Maggie COBLE. He ended up in Trumbull Co., Ohio where he met and married my great grandmother and they had 4 children. He left when the children were young. I'd like to find out more information about him if I can so any information would be appreciated. Thank you.

Trying to trace my BOYD family roots. Great-grandfather, Edwin BOYD, was born in Clyde, OH on 04/16/1845 and imigrated with his parents, William (b.1813) and Charlotte (b.1818)BOYD to near Cameron, Missouri, as a boy. I don't know if my great-gre! at-grandfather, William BOYD, was born in Sandusky County or the Clyde area or not. I believe that the BOYD family originally came from Scotland, but I have nothing to prove that other than Scottish Clan maps.

I understand that William BOYD, a.k.a. Hopalong Cassidy of cowboy western movie fame, was also from Ohio and would like to prove or disprove a family tie.

I'm new to searching for family roots, other than entering information into my Family Tree Maker software program. Any assistance you could provide would be a tremendous help. Thank you.

Hi Maggie,
I am searching for my great grandfather, William Jacob RESLER who was born May 3, 1858 somewhere in Ohio. His father's name was William Jacob Resler as well who was born in Penn. His mothers name is unknown but he had one brother by the name of Wesley. I believe that Wesley was born about 1848. Could you have a look in the 1860 census for Sandusky County? Sure would appreciate it. I found in the Ohio Land Records land purchased by a William Resler on October 1, 1846 at the Upper Sandusky Land Office. Thank you in advance for all your help

Sincerely,
Cindy Tromp
