CHARLES EGAN

Charles Elwood Egan, 49, president of the Ross County Conservation League and for 32 years a B&O clerk, died unexpectedly at 1:15 A.M. Tuesday at his home, 266 Vine St. He was born in this city Sept. 16, 1901, the son of James and Mayme Litterst Egan, and married Bertha Patton on Nov. 19, 1936. Surviving besides the wife are two daughters, Mrs. Robert Cozad, of this city, and Gwen Ann Egan, at home; a son, Michael C. Egan, also at home; and a sister, Mrs. Josephine Arledge, this city. Service was held at St. Peters church with burial in St. Margarets cemetery. Pallbearers were George Shearow, Lawrence Rahrle, Ernest Tudor, Ralph Harmont, Howard Cutright and Albert Mader.

HUGH EGAN

The funeral of Hugh F. Egan, editor of the Adelphi Border-News, was held Wednesday, March 8. An immense throng of people gathered in the little village to attend the services. Members of the Red Men Order, which the deceased was affiliated gathered from all over the state. Quite a number from this city were in attendance. Following a religious service at his home conducted by Rev. Father Halpin, the remains were taken to the city hall while the body lay in state for an hour preceding a public funeral service. Eulogies of the deceased were read by Judge Louis B. Houck, of Mt. Vernon, past great sachem, H. B. Chalfin, of Dennison, great sachem, Thomas Irwin, of Martins Ferry, great chief of records and E.P. Smith, of Waverly, past great sachem. Rev. Landsittle and Rev. Myers and George Witwer spoke feelingly of the loss of such a citizen to the community where he will be sorely missed. The city hall was filled to overflowing. Following the public funeral the remains were taken back to the home of the deceased where a short funeral service was conducted by Rev. Father Halpin and the remains were then removed the Adelphi Cemetery for interment. Titualistic services was conducted at the graveside by Judge Louis B. Houck for the Order of Red Men.

JAMES EGAN

James Egan of 401 N. High St. died Wed. evening March 5 at his late residence after a lingering illness of nine years. Death was due to complications of diabetes. He was born July 6, 1873, to Joseph and Elizabeth Egan, and married July 27, 1897, to Mary Anna Litterest. He is survived by his sorrowing wife and two children, Charles and Josephine, at home. Funeral services will be held from St. Peter's church Saturday morning at 8:30, with Rev. Father Kreuskamp officiating. Burial will follow in St. Margarets Cemetery.

JOSEPH EGAN

Joseph Egan Sr. died at the home of his son , Hugh F. Egan, editor of the Adelphi Border News, at Adelphi, on Thursday afternoon of last week, aged almost 79. The funeral service took place at 9 o'clock Saturday morning at St. Mary's church, Chillicothe. Mr. Egan was an old resident of Chillicothe, living here until three years ago, since which time he has lived with his son.

MAYME EGAN

Mrs. Mayme Anna Egan, 69, died at 8 a.m. Tuesday in the Athens hospital, death resulting from complications. Born in this county to Charles and Cecilia Barr Litterst, she married James Egan in 1897, who died in 1930, Surviving are a son, Charles, and a daughter, Josephine Arledge, both of this city; a brother, Albert Litterst of Columbus; and three grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday from St. Peter's church; burial will follow at St. Margarets cemetery. Friends may call at the residence of the daughter at 401 N. High St. after Wednesday noon.
