Washington Twp. ... Thursday, Sept. 5, the Taylor family and connections held their annual reunion at the home of John Taylor, near Spring Mills.  There were present 82 persons and all were  the descendants and their families of Robert Taylor, who was born in Barnby, Nottingham, England, in 1793, and came to America in 1853.  Of his ten children, two boys, Joseph and Robert, came to America some time before their father, one daughter having died in her native country, the remaining seven embarked for America with their father.

Robert Taylor settled first in Washington township, Richland county, O., and remained here until 1873, when he purchased a farm in Auburn township, where he died in 1884 at the advanced age of 90 years.  Of his descendants there are still living five children, 37 grandchildren, 42 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.  The day was spent in a social way and each one seemed to enjoy himself.  Two very nice oak chairs were presented to Mr. and Mrs. John Taylor and Dr. Beal, of Ontario, was present to photograph those present.  The next annual reunion will be held at the home of Joseph Taylor, near Spring Mills, the first Thursday of September, 1902.
