K. Hall, at large; A. J. Ellery, Harvey Mullet, H. D. Shreffler and Perry Gundrum.  Bert Fix was director of finance and W. D. "CHARTER COMMISSION ELECTION - WAS SO QUIET THAT THE JUDGES AND CLERKS HARDLY KNEW ONE WAS BEING HELD - The election Saturday to select fifteen charter commissioners to draft a charter under which Shelby will operate after January 1st, was a very quiet election.  Only a small per cent of the voters turned out to register their votes.  There were sixteen candidates for election and only fifteen to be chosen.  Saturday night it was reported after a temporary and unofficial canvass of the vote that Miss Lizzie Marvin, the only woman candidate in the list had secured a place on the ticket by defeating H. D. Seltzer by one vote.  Later, a more careful review of the election figures was taken two additional votes not counted for Mr. Seltzer seemed to give Mr. Seltzer a place on the commission, defeating Miss Marvin.  In order to clear up the situation the vote will be gone over by the city clerk Bert Fix, city solicitor C. J. Anderson and May or C. E. Morris.  When this canvass is made Mr. Seltzer and Miss Marvin will also be requested to be present in order that they may be perfectly satisfied that the greatest care is used in counting the ballots.  The canvass will probably be made some time today.  The following is a list of the sixteen candidates:  C. E. Morris, M. E. Roberts, F. C. Schiffer, H. D. Seltzer, W. W. VanHorn, C. J. Anderson, Clare Bloomfield, A. J. Ellery, Bert Fix, Phillip Keller, S. E. Kuhn, R. I. Lewis, B. F. Long, G. W. McClain, Leo McGaw and Miss Lizzie Marvin.  The probabilities are that the canvass of the vote will show that H. D. Seltzer was elected to a place on the commission by one or two votes over Miss Marvin."
