* Stone was photographed several years ago when it was "in the low ground between The Big House at Malabar Farm and Bromfield Road".    A few years later "the stone had been removed when they re-graded the area.  Now no one seems to know where the stone went."    If anyone knows of its current location, please contact the Richland County Chapter, OGS, P.O. 3823, Mansfield OH 449907-0823 or [email protected].

note about the BENJAMIN MOWRY headstone ... The submitter, Eric, tells us that this headstone was placed in a teacher's yard for Halloween years ago and was later given to his family because of the family connection.  Efforts were made to replace the headstone - but that never occurred.  Click on the name to see a photo of the headstone.

note 2 ... This tombstone, along with four others, has been in the possession of the Richland Co. Highway Dept.  The Richland Co. Chapter (OGS) was contacted about the stones and a member visited the office to transcribe the stones.

  • TOL(1):  THE OHIO LIBERAL, 13 February 1884
  • Star(1):  Bellville Star, 09 August 1883;  The newspaper account tells us that Lydia was the wife of George Stimely, but according to Carrol Ann (9/07) and the Monroe Twp. Cemetery book (RCOGS, 2003) Lydia was the wife of John, not George.
