At the meeting of Council held on Monday evening, Isaac Gass, Esq., of the Hook and Ladder Company, was elected Chief Engineer of the Fire Department for 1861-2;  Solomon Kauffman, of Engine No. 1, First Assistant, and John B. Netcher [Netscher] of No. 2, Second Assistant.
