Lexington.  Nov. 5 the surviving members of the family of Mr. & Mrs. Thomas Philips, deceased, met in joyous reunion at the old homestead, south of here.  Five sisters and one brother are all that are left of a family of 13 children.  There were present 12 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren, together with friends to the number of 50.  Those from abroad were:  Mrs. Elizabeth Winters, of Grand Rapids, Mich.;  Thomas Philips and family, of Waterford;  Thomas Lucas and family, of Shelby;  William Lucas and wife, of Fulton County;  Upton Lucas and wife, of Mt. Gilead;  William McDonald and family, of Fredericktown;  Isaac Lucas and family, of Johnsville;  Mrs. Martha Philips, of Mansfield;  Jacob Dennis and wife, of Steam Corners.  The tables were laden with luxuries rich and rare and flowers in many and varied beautiful designs exhaled their sweet fragrance on the scene of mirth.  To the surviving children fond memories of childhood days cluster about the old home which is of the old-fashioned kind that suggests hospitality.  The present owner of the old homestead is Miles Craven and all present are deeply grateful to Mr. Craven and family for their assiduous efforts to promote the pleasure of people who lingered until evening at joyous festal scene and departed for their homes, some to remote places, and all hope to again view the old home and its beautiful environments of hill, vale and forest.
