Harrison Alexander, who died in Bellville, January 16, 1894, was born in Belmont, Waldo Co., Maine, February 12, 1823, and was therefore nearly 72 years old at the time of his death.  He was married to Amanda Weymouth, August 18, 1850;  and came to Bellville in the mo. following;  so that his residence in this place covered a period of 44 years.  During most of these years, no form was more familiar on the streets of Bellville than his.  He was large in stature, and endowed with remarkable physical strength.  These, with his stirring and industrious habits, made him a prominent personage among the busy and business men of the village which was so long his place of residence and with whose business interests he was so closely identified.  He was a man of kind heart and generous impulses and he had many and warm friends.

The wife and two sons survive him, his only daughter having died May 17, 1889.  He was buried from his late residence, the funeral services being conducted by Revs. Canfield and Burkholder in the presence of a large gathering of sympathizing neighbors and friends.
