Peter Eckert was born in Lebanon Co., Penn., Dec. 20, 1830.  After living some years in Cumberland County, he came to Ohio in 1853.  He died Aug. 18, 1894, aged 63 years, 7 months and 28 days.  The last weeks of his life were spent in intense suffering and he found strength to endure by faith in Christ the Lord.  He was a kind-hearted, Christian man and will be greatly missed.  A son and daughter and other relatives and friends still live to profit by the lessons of this life.  The funeral service was held Monday forenoon in the Baptist church near Johnsville, conducted by Revs. Platt and Reynolds.
