Daniel Gallagher

Daniel Gallagher, who died at his home on East Second Street, Tuesday, of paralysis, was buried at 3 p.m. Thursday.

Mr. Gallagher had been in ill health for a number of years and the paralysis suddenly terminated his life.

The funeral was conducted by McLaughlin Post, G.A.R.

Daniel Gallagher was born in Somerset County, Dec. 23, 1826.  He was married to Miss Diana Hoover in 1850, and she died in 1875, leaving nine children.  Three of these children survive:  Charles Gallagher and Mrs. Willard Snyder, of this city, and Mrs. Ellen Robinson, of Elmwood, Kan.  In 1876, Mr. Gallagher was united in marriage to Mrs. Sarah Mercer, widow of James Mercer.  Three children were the result of the union, and they survive the father.  They are:  Misses Bertha, Bertie and Minnie.  The deceased served in the 48th. and 120th. Regiments in the Civil War from 1863 to 1865.
