Thomas Newton Kinton

Thomas Newton Kinton, pioneer resident of Richland county and Civil war veteran, died this morning at his home, a half-mile north of Hastings,  on the Lucas-Bellville road at the age of 81 years, 9 months.  The deceased was born in Indiana, December 17, 1844, but at the age of seven months was brought, with two other children, by his widowed 
mother, to Ohio, where they lived on his grandfather's homestead.  He enlisted in the 163rd O.V.I., in 1864 and served until the close of the war. His brother, William, who enlisted in 1862, was a member of Company B, 120th O.V.I., and died at Vicksburgh. On September 9, 1873, Thomas Kinton was united in marriage to Mary Alice Marlow, of Lexington, who survives. To them were born eight  children, three of whom have died.  The surviving children are Thomas Reed Kinton, Galesburg, Ill., Harry Edison Kinton, at home, John F. Kinton, of Mansfield, Mary Jane Kinton, 
of Hastings and Grace E., of Mt. Vernon, N.Y. There are seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.  The deceased united with the United Presbyterian church in 1862 under  Rev. Gaily and has continued a faithful member of the Monroe church since that time.  The funeral will be held at 2 o'clock Wednesday afternoon with the Rev. 
M.A. Eakin, Mansfield, and Rev. Barnett, of Lucas, officiating.
