The church minister

" New Year's day of 1922 brought the good news
for our church community that former inhabitants of Nieder-Modau now
living in America had collected money for a new bell instead of those who
had been surrendered during the war.". The equivalent of 18.235 marks was
transferred to Reverend Hermann Von Der Au in Nieder-Modau by the
president of the deutscher Hilfsverein, Pastor Kienle of Mansfield. The
donations listed under No. 2 -20 were collected by Karl Heuss who deserved
well of us by this action. May God reward all of them their faithfulness
for their native place and church!"
According to the church books
of Nieder-Modau, Peter Ludwig, brother of Karl and Johannes Heuss's
