We copy the following, taken from a correspondent in the Herald, published at La Estrell de Panama, in reference to W.S. Rockwell, son of Mr. Samuel Rockwell of this place:  "The cashier of the railroad company, W.S. Rockwell, is a native of Ohio, who came here two years ago, and by strict attention to business and duty, now fills that important position." 

Shelby Public Schools open Monday, Sept. 6th., 1875, with the following corps of teachers:  Superintendent, W.H. Pritchard;  High School, Sarah Hearst;  Grammar, Sylvester Tucker;  A Intermediate, John Myers;  B Intermediate, Lizzie G. Gann;  West Secondary, Eva Sipe;  West Primary, Mattie Sipe;  East Secondary, Emma May;  East Primary, Lizzie L. Meredith;  Junction, Allice S. Breckbill.  The school year will be divided into three terms as follows:  1st. term, 15 weeks;  2d. term, 11 weeks;  and 3d. term, 11 weeks:  total, 37 weeks.  Scholars having failed to pass the June examinations can have the privilege of re-examination by reporting to the Superintendent on Monday, September 5th.  -- H. Mr. Simeon Tucker has been indisposed for some weeks.

Mrs. Madden has painted and otherwise improved her property.

Mrs. Wm. Cummins returned to her home in Illinois last Thursday.

Mr. F.S. Robertson was called home from Tiffin very suddenly last week on account of his little daughter being very ill.

Mr. Smith Francis of Indianapolis, Ind., and son-in-law of Mr. Jno. Kingsboro, of this place, paid us a call Wednesday -- looking, as when we first met him, eight years ago, hale and hearty.

MARRIED, At the residence of the bride's mother, by the Rev. H. Ward, Mr. M.A. Garrett, of this place, to Miss Nellie Marshall, of Buffalo, New York.

DIED, Harry, infant son of Samuel and Catharine Hollenbaugh, was born March 30th., 1875, died August 24th., aged four months and twenty-four days. -- N.H.L.
