Capt. W.H. Garret started on a trip to the Eastern shore of Maryland for his health, on Tuesday morning last, accompanied by Mr. F.S. Sowers.  We hope he will return much improved in health.

We were astonished last Sabbath to receive a message informing us of the death of our old and esteemed friend, Hon. Daniel Brewer of Plymouth, who died after a day's illness, on Sabbath morning, from erysipelas.  His funeral took place on Monday afternoon, conducted by the Odd Fellows of which he was a prominent member.  He was at one time a member of the Ohio Legislature and a man well known throughout the county.  He was a genial companion, a warm-hearted, generous, and faithful friend.  As such we knew him for twenty years, and when we parted, late at night, but a few days before his death, in good health, we had greater reason than ever to continue our long and uninterrupted friendship.  Peace to his ashes.

MARRIED, By Rev. N.H. Loose at his residence, Sunday evening June 13th., 1875, Mr. Wm. McBride of Shiloh, Ohio, and Mrs. Susie McGee of Shelby, Ohio.

MARRIED, At the residence of Mr. John Lance, Mill Street, Shelby, Ohio, on the 17th. inst., by Rev. O.H. Ramsey, Mr. Samuel Shreffler to Miss Ella Lance, both of Shelby, O.

J.J. Sotzen has erected a new barn.

Amos Garber is erecting a new dwelling in North addition.

T.H. Barkdull was in Shelby last Monday.

Mr. Wm. Shull of Jackon Twp., recently met with a severe fall from a shed.

Miss Laura Billow died on Wednesday morning.  Obituary next week.  Funeral Friday at 10 o'clock.

Wellington Mills is in trouble.  He did reside in Shelby.  If we do not succeed in stating his case correctly, he will please report in person and explain!  Mr. Mills had a wife in the state of New York many years ago.  He thought she was dead.  He married another and she died.  He married a Mrs. Barnard from Ft. Wayne, Ind., at Erie, Pa., on July 9th., 1874, and she is here.  He then took to himself a Miss Loflin, of Plymouth, and she is here too.  Mrs. Mills nee Barnard left, because Mrs. Mills number one was said to be about arriving, when in fact it proved to be Mrs. Mills number four who had arrove.  So she returned.  Now he's gone.  So there are two Mrs. Mills and no Mr. Mills here.  Here's a muddle.  The Shelby lawyers have been in consultation over the case, and would no doubt make it warm for Mills if he would only put in an appearance.  The report got out that a Wolfe was after him, but we cant vouch for that story.  All we know is, there are several women to one man in Shelby -- waiting for Mills!
