John Y. Glessner, week before last, was severely kicked by a horse, and was confined to his room by reason of it.  We hope he will soon be restored to his usual health.

Christian Huber died on Friday morning last.  His funeral took place on Sabbath afternoon at 2 o'clock, attended by the Fire Department, and a large number of citizens.  An obituary will be published elsewhere.

Mrs. R. Gipson is having a new iron fence put up in front of her residence on Gamble Street.  It is being built by Jno. S. Trimble, who puts up one of the neatest iron fences we have seen for a long while.  Capt. W.H. Garrett is having a similar one put up in front of his tenant house on South Gamble Street.  Our street is bound to shine!

At the annual election of Hose Co., No. 2, the following officers were elected:  Foreman, C.L. Cline;  Ass't. Foreman, John Shearer;  Secretary, W.K. Rutter;  Treasurer, J.H. Phillipps;  Pipe Directors, Wm. Carmicle and H.B. Trucks.  Three new members were also elected.

Mr. Jacob Cline died on last Tuesday morning, and was buried today at 10 o'clock.

Mr. Jonas Blocker of Jackson, and Joseph Downend of Plymouth Twp., old citizens, died last week, both from a gangrenous disease of the limbs.

DIED, Christian Huber, at Shelby, April 23d., 1875, aged 41 years, 4 months and 21 days.  The deceased was born in Baden, Germany.  Emigrated to this country in the year 1850, and was a resident of Shelby for about 24 years.  His last illness was short and severe, suddenly ending his life, leaving a sadly bereaved widow and six children to mourn his early death.  Since the organization of the Shelby Fire Department, five years ago, he was a regular and active member and by his generous nature and punctual habits, much endeared himself to his comrades, as shown in their full attendance as a body at his burial.  He was the first to die of their number.  Much sympathy was manifested for the severely afflicted family, by an immense concourse of citizens and friends at the funeral services held at the Presbyterian church last Sunday afternoon, conducted by Rev. Loose.
