A four-year-old daughter of Mr. Jno. Saviers had her arm broken on Saturday last.  A little boy merely pushed her from a chair.  Drs. Mack and Myers set the arm, and the little sufferer is now doing well.

Dr. J.M. McLaughlin was last week sworn in as coroner of Richland County, in place of Dr. Race, whose term of office had expired.

Mrs. Rebecca Wentz, widow of Jacob Wentz, Sr., deceased, died near Blain, Pa., on December 31st., 1874, aged 75 years, 8 months and 11 days.  The deceased was the mother of fourteen children -- six sons and eight daughters -- all living.  It has often been our lot to surround that family table, when not one link of the chain was broken -- a patriarchal scene indeed.

The Trauger family of Plymouth Township, held a reunion on January 5th., the anniversary of the Golden Wedding of father and mother Trauger.  A more estimable family than the Traugers, can scarcely be found anywhere.

Mr. Benj. Markley, an old citizen of this place, died suddenly on last Wednesday morning.  His wife was absent at the time, on a visit to her daughter at Chicago Junction.  Being suddenly taken ill, one of his neighbors went for assistance;  but upon his return found him dead.  Mr. M. was a quiet, hard-working citizen, highly esteemed by his neighbors and friends.  He was aged about sixty years.

DIED, December 28th., 1874, at the residence of her father, Mr. David Livensparger in Sharon Township, Mrs. Sarah Mundey, aged 47 years, 5 months and 24 days.  Sister Mundey was a member of the Lutheran Church in Shelby.  She suffered much for many years.  During the last year of her life she was confined to her bed.  Amid all her afflictions she was supported by an unwavering faith in her Redeemer.  The funeral sermon was preached by Rev. D.I. Foust, her pastor, December 30th., at her father's house, after which her body was laid to rest in Oakland Cemetery, followed to the place of burial by a large number of friends.  Thus passed away, one, though poor in worldly goods, yet rich in the bright prospects of unfading treasures in heaven.

JACKSON TWP., January 11th., 1875 -- At a spelling school in No. 5, three sleighs were racing to pass each other.  One of them, driving a sled with a double team, ran over a daughter of Mr. J.W. Huffman, aged about 16, dragging her over two rods.  The parties stopped, took her out from under the sled and took her home.  She had been walking at the side of the road, to get out of the way, and it was because they were thus racing, that the accident occurred.  It is only because of this accident was not more serious, that the law is not now enforced against the guilty parties.

We only this week learned that on New Years eve, at Victorine Mott's dwelling, while a number of young men were "shooting New Years" as is the German custom, a son of Mr. John Yeager accidentally discharged his pistol, mangling his left hand terribly.  Dr. Myers amputated two fingers.  An iron bolt, used as a ramrod, in the pistol, used at the time for loading it, hit a son of Jos. Keller's right under the eye, penetrating about an inch.  His eyesight is returning.  It is now thought both will recover.
