BELLVILLE

Samuel Eller has moved to the property that he lately purchased on north Markey Street.

George Kime and wife, of Newark, O., were the guests of the family of C.A. Ingham over Sunday.

SERIOUS ACCIDENT -- Mr. Samuel Lantz, one of our leading farmers, residing about four miles west of town, met with a serious accident last Thursday evening.  He was at work in the barn feeding stock, when by a mis-step he was precipitated from the hay loft to the floor below, the fall resulting in a bad fracture of the right leg about midway between the knee and hip joint as well as other bruises and sprains.  Drs. Stofer of this place, and Dennison of Johnsville, were called who adjusted the fractured limb and made the patient as comfortable as possible.  Owing to the age of Mr. L. the process of recovery will necessarily be slow and painful.  At last accounts he was doing as well as could be expected. 

Oscar Force is confined to his bed with an attack of typhoid fever.

Little Sammy Zigler is reported seriously ill with bowel complaint.

Mrs. J.J. Houser visited in Fredericktown last week, guest of Mrs. Trahern.

Mrs. Jordan, of Columbus, is the guest of her brother-in-law, O.S. Hawley.

Mrs. Mellie LeFevre was called to Butler Saturday evening by a telephone message announcing the serious illness of her mother.

Rev. Luke Finley, wife and child, of Hebron, Ind., are guests of Mrs. F's. mother and sisters, Mrs. Simons and daughters, on South Bell Street.

Della Maglott attended the Disciple convention at Ashland.

Mrs. E. Clippelt, of Mansfield, is visiting Miss Hannah Sell.

John Baker and family visited with J. Maglott and family lately.

Carl Patterson and wife, of Mansfield, spent Sunday with friends here.

Wm. H. Elston spent a few days in Columbus the fore part of the week.

Harrison Myers has moved into Lewis Garber's house on South Main Street.

Mrs. Mina Secrist, of Worthington Twp., is seriously ill with typhoid fever.

Chas. Myers returned Friday from Philadelphia, and will spend a few weeks in rest and recreation.

A.L. Walker, traveling salesman for the H.M. Weaver Shoe Co., of Mansfield, was at home over Sunday.

B.L. Garber, manager of the Fredericktown flouring mills, spent Sunday with his family at this place.

Willie Leedale visited with his parents a few days.

Mrs. J.C. Welch, of Lemert, O., is the guest of Miss Hannah Sell.

Calvin Aungst has moved from the country to his property near the B.&O. depot.

C.T. Nazor, wife and sister, of Ontario, spent Sunday with Otis Pitts and family.

Miss Mollie Patman of Mansfield, spent Sunday with her parents, Mr. & Mrs. Jacob Patman.

Prof. A.L. Freehafer, Supt. of the Lucas Schools, spent Sunday with his parents, east of town.

Mrs. J.J. Dean, of New Castle, Pa., spent a few days of last week in town, the guest of Helen Zent and family.

Reuben Lee and wife, of Creston, O., and Mandis Fulton, of Poe, O., were the guests of C.A. Ingham and family the past week.

Edward Spangler, who has been visiting his brother-in-law, H.G. Ingham, left Friday evening for his home at Myerstown, Pa.

Pink S. White, the popular hotel clerk, returned last Wednesday after a very pleasant vacation of five days in Columbus and Mt. Vernon.

Jacob Oyster, wife and two children, left Saturday for a ten days' visit with relatives at Alliance and other places in eastern and northeastern Ohio.

At a Christian Endeavor convention held at Shelby, O., on Friday afternoon and evening the 4th. inst., a Richland County C.E. Union was organized with officers as follows -- President, Mr. J.A. Fenner, Shiloh;  Vice-Pres., Rev. Lynne, Mansfield;  Secretary, Miss Blanche Heskett, Lexington;  Treasurer, Mr. Fred Fisher, Bellville.  The presidents of lcoal C.E. Societies belonging to the union are vice presidents of the union.  Any C.E. Society may become a member of the union by signifying its' desire to the secretary.

C.B. Rowalt of Mansfield, is taking a short vacation and is the guest of his mother, Mrs. M.H. Barrett, of South Markey Street, and shaking hands with his many friends at this place.

The following were the successful competitors in the special premiums offered by Dr. W.H. Forry:  For best set of natural teeth, James Gatton;  for cleanest and best kept set of natural teeth, Miss L. Heiple;  for most defective set of natural teeth, Mrs. Ida Armstrong.

The case of Catharine Measel vs. the estate of B.F. Hines, which was heard in the Court of Common Pleas several weeks ago, has been decided in favor of the estate of B.F. Hines.  This is the case which was brought to set aside a deed from Peter Measel to B.F. Hines, and the decision declaring the deed valid certainly shows that the transaction was thoroughly understood by the parties, and was perfectly legitimate in every particular. 

Mr. P. Maglott and daughter, Novella, visited with J. Maglott during a few days.

George Hissong has moved into the house vacated by Samuel Eller, on Huron Street.

Mrs. Levi Myers visited friends near Perrysville on Sunday and was accompanied home by Mrs. Henry White and son, who are visiting here from Marion, O.

O.B. Rummel left for Cincinnati last Friday.

Charley Myers is home and down sick with inflamatory rheumatism.

John Timmeran has returned from an extended visit in Germany.

Misses Mamie and Nellie Smoots, of Fredericktown, were the guests of Beth Garber over Sunday.

Mrs. Blake Elston left Monday for her home in Peoria, Ill., accompanied by her mother, Mrs. Schuler.

Mrs. O.B. Rummel and daughter Millie went to Chicago Friday to visit Mr. and Mrs. J.W. Sheidley.

Miss Josephine and Margaret Belt, of Washington, D.C., were the guests of Mrs. Schuler last week.

H.B. Zeigler and little son Sammy, were in Plymouth a few days last week, attending the fair at that place.

HONEY CREEK

Mr. and Mrs. J. Simmons and company spent last Tuesday with Mrs. Jacob Stelts, east of Bellville.

Nathan Oldfield went to Crestline Wednesday on business.

Miss Nora Harn, west of Bellville, visited her aunt, Mary Kelso, last Tuesday.

Miss Stelts visited friends near Greenvalley, Knox Co., Wednesday and Thursday.

Mr. James Tinkey and daughter, Otie, spent Sunday with Mr. Martin and family near Palmyra, Knox Co.

Mr. and Mrs. E. Zolman of Morrow Co., visited Wm. Paste and wife, Saturday.

HASTINGS

William Fulton was at Mansfield last Friday on business.

Mrs. John Kramer, of Butler, and Mrs. Dr. Ridenour, of Bellville, sent a few days this week with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. Maglott.

School will commence at Pleasant Hall, Oct. 28th., with W.A. Maglott as teacher.

Scott Bone spent Sunday in this vicinity.
