BELLVILLE

S. Higbee, of Ill., is visiting his sister, Mrs. W. Holland.

Mrs. Lutton, of Newark, is visiting her daughter, Mrs. Dr. Forry.

Mrs. Charles Shroder visited at the home of Daniel Walker last week.

Mr. Joseph Palmer, and daughter Alice, of Mansfield, spent Wednesday in Bellville, guests of Mrs. Kelso, south of town.

P.H. Horn of the Pullman car works, Chicago, is spending a few days with his family at this place.

Mrs. E.A. Lyon and family, of Willouby, O., returned home Tuesday after a pleasant visit with her parents, Hiram Charles.

H. Alexander is quite poorly but he still recognizes his friends and is much delighted to see them.

Chas. Purcell of Danville, who is thriving in a good butchering trade in that town, visited friends recently in our town.

Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Walker attended the Richland County Pomona Grange, held in Wells Township, on Thursday of last week.

C.A. Ingham, B.&O. agent at this place, returned Friday evening from Myerstown, Pa., where he had been to attend the funeral of his mother.

Ed. Shafer, Tiffin, Ohio, is making a short visit with his parents, Emanuel Shafer and wife.

J.M. Garber from O.U.S. after a few weeks vacation returned on Thursday.

Farber and Cover shipped a car load of hogs and sheep to Herr Island on Thursday.

Mrs. Frank Walters returned Monday from a visit with friends in Lexington.

Wash. Swank and wife, of Findley, are guests of relatives and friends in this place and vicinity.

Misses Nora Bender, Lillie Boling and Nellie Lafferty spent Sunday with Grace Patman.

Rev. Wm. G. Ward, of Syracuse, N.Y., visited his mother, Mrs. Fairchilds, during the holidays.

Scot Hardesty and wife have begun the "stern realities of life" (house keeping), in rooms over the City Restaurant.

John Myers, assisted by John Bowers, attended to business for the B.&O. company at this place, during the absence of Agent Ingham, in a creditable manner.

Stofer in the case of Charles Riggle, son of John Riggle.  His malady was declared to be intussusceptions of the lower bowel, with other complications.  He was removed to Cleveland Tuesday morning in charge of Drs. Nevison and Becker.  A telegram was received Wednesday evening stating that an operation would be performed Thursday at 9 o'clock and Dr. Stofer, together with the young man's father and mother, left for Cleveland on train 47 the same evening.  All unite in a fervent wish that he may pass through the ordeal in safety and return fully restored to health.

FOREST HALL

Mrs. Ana Sickinger and daughter Grace, of Mansfield, and Mrs. Henley and family, of North Baltimore, O., were the guests of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Botomley during the holidays.

Mr. Albert Wearham and Mr. Willes Jones have gone to Wood Co.

Professors A.L. Frehafer, of Lucas, and John Cramer, of Butler, visited near Shelby last week.

Mr. Jacob Maglott has returned from a recent visit to Indiana.

Mr. Charles Etz was at Mansfield Monday.

Mrs. Mary Thrush who has been doing house work for Mrs. A. Frehafer has returned home.

Mrs. A. Frehafer is on the sick list.

Mr. and Mrs. H. Cate and Miss Almeda Burns, of Mansfield, were guests of Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Robinson, Christmas.

Mr. Jacob Lahman is reported some better at present.

Mrs. Albert Black spent Christmas with his sister, Mrs. Madison Gatton, of Bellville.

Miss Della Maglott has been having a serious time with the mumps lately.

Mr. Charles who has been in poor health for some time we are sorry to say is no better at this writing.

Miss Bertha Robinson is having a successful school this winter.

HASTINGS

Master Harvey and Don Maglott, of Mansfield, have been visiting with their grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Adam Mowry.

Mrs. P. Maglott is better at this writing.

Mr. and Mrs. A.S. Beach spent Sunday with Mrs. Beach's parents.

Miss Etta Donnan, who has been working for Mrs. Garber of Bellville, has returned home.

Dr. Ridenour who is attending the Medical College at Cleveland, is spending his vacation in this vicinity.

Mr. Orton McCready is attending the Teachers' Institute at Mansfield this week.

BANGORVILLE

Miss Allie Borden was very sick last week.

Thomas Bisel of Harding Co., visited friends in this vicinity the past week.

Miss Luzella Moore has been engaged to teach the Culps' school next summer.

Mr. Brumbaugh of Portage Co., spent Christmas with C. and H. Kensinger.

John Hissong visited his sister, Mrs. Rebecca Brown at Westfield, O., on the 22nd. of December.

C.L. Kensinger visited friends at North Liberty Thursday and Friday of last week.

Bert Hart has rented T.S. Black's house on north Main Street.

A.E. Detwiler of Pa., is visiting friends in this vicinity.

Fred Long returned home from Marion Co., Saturday where he has been engaged in husking corn for some time.

H.L. Bigbee and W.R. McDaniel returned home from Ada on December 22nd. where they have been attending school, to spend the holidays.  They returned to Ada Monday.

Willie McDonald has been suffering severe pain the past week from the effects of an abscess on the back of his neck.

BUTLER

Mrs. J.W. Myers left for home in Wooster, after a pleasant stay with friends here.

Mrs. Elmore Switzer and Mrs. J.P. Pearce are spending the holidays with Mrs. C.R. Line, at Cleveland.

Miss Alpha Gardner, of Norwalk, Ohio, is the guest of Miss Eva Thompson.  J.W. Wilson of South New Lymun, spent a week with his parents here.

Samuel White and wife arrived home safe at Melrose, Ill.

W.W. Scott and wife, of Cincinnati, are back on a visit.

R.S. Hubbs wears a smile and begins to look quite like a doctor.

F.P. Bowman, of Wooster, and B. Traxler enjoyed Christmas at E.A. Plank's.

E.E. Wilson and wife, of Cherokee, Iowa, are visiting friends here.

ALTA

Mr. and Mrs. J. Tinkey had an oyster supper last Wednesday evening.  Eighteen friends were present.

Miss Kate Thrush was visiting her sister at Bellville, O., and returned home last week.

Mrs. B. Keller returned to her home in Toledo, after a long visit with her mother, Mrs. E. Vantwerp.

Mr. W. Ballentine had a well drilled last week.

Mr. A. Bowers, west of Bellville was at Alta last week on business.

Mr. George Sunnuck had a well drilled last week.

Mrs. Daisy Emens, of Mansfield, was the guest of Mrs. Geo. Sunnuck two days last week.

DARLINGTON

John Zimmerly still continues quite poorly.

Geo. H. Ruhl trasacted business at Mansfield Monday.

Mrs. H.P. Kochheiser is still in a critical condition.

Dr. D.M.L. Singery is quite poorly at this writing with little hopes of recovery.

James West, of near Lexington, lately moved to John Ruhl's farm, west of town.

H.C. Goodwin had a close call to death Thursday night by falling from the hay loft in his barn and striking his head on the manger rendering him unconscious for over five hours.

Mr. Burlins of Michigan moved in Miss Elma Gaddis' house Saturday evening.

Attorney F.A. Follin of Cleveland, spent Christmas with his mother returned to this city Monday.
