The meeting was called to order (7/8/1872), and by motion, Mayor Leiter was elected Chairman, and J.A. Gann, Secretary, for the evening. Object of meeting: the organization of a Hook and Ladder Company.

We are sorry the Leiters have been compelled to disband, but hope Shelby will be able to raise another company who will make things lively, and achieve an honorable a record as they have.
