18 January 1894, Vol. 6, No. 36

Bangorville -- Mr. Frank Files and Miss Nettie A. Maffet were united in marriage on the evening of Jan. 10, at the M.E. parsonage, Bellville, by the Rev. Deeds.

Married -- Wednesday at the M.E. parsonage, Bell Street, by Rev. J.H. Deeds, Mr. Frank Files to Mary A. Maffet, both of this vicinity.

Lexington -- Henry Dickson was united in marriage with Mrs. S. Schenk on last Wednesday.  The bride is an estimable lady whose home is in the vicinity of Mt. Gilead.  The groom is well known and respected by this community.

Butler -- Obe Worley and Ella Hively were quietly married Sunday.

01 February 1894, Vol. 6, No. 38

Butler is all agog over the outcome of a wedding which occurred Jan. 7, the contracting parties being Miss Ella Thompson, of this place, and Al. D. Beasley, of Petersburg, Ind., who was working at Bellville for the bride's brother-in-law.  They were married after an acquaintance of about four weeks, and left for the home of the groom two weeks ago.  Mrs. B., inherited about $500 and as soon as the scoundrel of a husband secured possession of the money, he bade her good bye, handing over sufficient money to pay her way back here, he going in another direction.  The despicable act of the scoundrel is the chief topic of conversation.

The many friends of Mr. Ira L. Clark, formerly of this place, but now of Newark, O., will be pleased to learn of his marriage on Thursday, Feb. 15th., to Miss Pauline, daughter of Rev. J. Kromer and wife.

Married on Thursday evening by Esq. Hess, Mr. Archie Spain of this place and Miss Nettie Daugherty east of town.

Butler -- James A. Gatton, of Bellville, and Miss Alice Heldenbran, of near Bunker Hill, were married last week by Rev. Noling.

Elmer Swonger was married in Newark on Friday, Feb. 23.  He visited at the Globe House over Sunday.

Married at the M.E. parsonage, Bell Street, Bellville, Ohio, Thursday evening, March 18, George Kauf and Kasey Steltz.  J.H. Deeds officiating.

Married at the residence of Daniel Walker on Thursday evening, Mar. 15, 1894, Miss Ida M. Fisher to Mr. Wm. C. Walker, by W.F. Barnett, pastor of St. Paul's Lutheran Church.

Married:-- At the residence of the clergyman, C.S. Cliffe (of Bellville), Mr. Frank Bemiller and Miss Nanna Harter (daughter of Adam Harter).  May each Easter bring to them a train of hallowed memories.

Lexington -- Miss Laura Shepard, of this place, and Mr. Albert Adams, of Bellville, were married at Mansfield, Saturday, by Rev. Wiles.

26 April 1894, Vol. 6, No. 50

Bellville -- Married:-- By the Rev. Bone at his residence near Hastings, Mr. E.M. (Elmer) Kirkpatrick and Miss Myrtie McCuen.  The contracting parties are both of this vicinity where they are well and favorably known and highly respected.  

Bellville -- Married:-- At the Lutheran parsonage Tuesday evening of last week, April 17th., Mr. B. Lorenzo Swartz and Miss Viola Mowry.

04 May 1894, Vol. 6, No. 51

Married:-- At the home of the bride's parents on Hines' Avenue, Bellville, O., April 25, '94, Mr. Eugene Brentlinger and Miss Jennie Patman.  Rev. J.H. Deeds of the M.E. church tied the knot.  Both the contracting parties are well known in our community.  Miss Patman, second daughter of Jacob Patman, is admired by all who know her.  Mr. Brentlinger is a first class tailor, member of the band and a young man who is genial in disposition, loved and respected by all.

17 May 1894, Vol. 7, No. 1

One of the happiest events to be chronicled in the social history of our village and one concerning which Bellville society for days past has been on the qui vive of great expectancy, occurred this Wednesday afternoon and evening of May 16, at the pretty residence of Mr. & Mrs. O.H. Gurney of South Main Street, where their daughter, Annette C., was wedded to Mr. Frank A. Everts of Washington, D.C.  [a more thorough article appears in the paper regarding this marriage]

Forest Hall -- It has been reported that Miss Maggie Shrader and John Alley, late of the Ohio Penitentiary, were married lately.

07 June 1894, Vol. 7, No. 4

Married at the M.E. parsonage, Thursday night, May 31st., by the Rev. J.H. Deeds, Mr. Harvey H. Phelps and Miss Belva M. Lafferty.  Prof. Phelps is the popular high school teacher and one and one half years experience in our high school and the same time spent in the grammar school.  Miss Belva Lafferty is the beautiful daughter of Mayor Lafferty, a former pupil of Prof. Phelps.  They were married very quietly at the parsonage, no one being present but the parties concerned.

14 June 1894, Vol. 7, No. 5

Wednesday morning, June 6th., Miss Lou Purcell and Theodore Durbin were united in wedlock at St. Luke's Catholic church by Rev. Father McDermott, in the presence of a large number of friends and relatives.  The bride is the accomplished daughter of Chas. Purcell of Buckeye City and the groom is a well known business man of this place.  [a more thorough description of this wedding can be found in the paper] -- as re-printed from the Knox County Herald.

09 August 1894, Vol. 7, No. 13

Wm. H. Batterson and Eudora Bell Severens, formerly of Bellville, were married in Chicago on Wednesday, Aug. 9th.  They left immediately for an extended trip to the eastern cities and the seashore, accompanied by Mr. and Mrs. Jno. W. Lanehart, of Chicago.

Bellville -- Mr. Alva F. Secrist, of Jelloway, and Miss Cora V. Niman were married at 9 o'clock last Sunday morning, Aug. 5, at the residence of the bride's parents west of town.  Rev. J.N. Barnett, pastor of Salem Lutheran church performed the service.

16 August 1894, Vol. 7, No. 14

Lexington -- Geo. McLaughlin of Utica, and Miss Maggie Fike were married at the bride's home in this place  last Thursday evening.  Only a few guests were present.  Rev. J. Benaugh officiated.  

Lexington -- Last Wednesday evening occurred the marriage of Mr. B.F. Deems and Miss Lina Denius at the home of the latter, Rev. J.A. Kaley performed the ceremony.  There were present about sixty guests.  One from Missouri, one from Michigan, and several from different parts of Ohio.  

30 August 1894, Vol. 7, No. 16

Timothy Ridge -- Our neighborhood was greatly surprised on last Wednesday evening to hear that Andrew Stewart and Miss Laura H. Davis, were married in Mansfield, by Rev. Wiles, returning home at Hastings where there was a grand supper prepared and they were highly congratulated by an old fashioned belling by about 75 men, boys and girls, whom he nicely treated with cigars and candy.

Bellville -- Married at the Bellville M.E. parsonage Sunday evening, Sept. 9th., Mr. W.W. Scott, of Mansfield, Ohio, and Miss Earle Dorsey of Butler, Ohio.

Lexington -- Married on Sept. 4, John Logan and Jennie Friedgen;  John Friedgen and Edith Logan.

27 September 1894, Vol. 7, No. 20

Hastings -- Married:  Mr. Charles McClellan and Miss Oscia Mitchell at the home of the bride's parents last Wednesday evening.  The ceremony was conducted by Rev. Dolbeer, of Perrysville.  We with them a long and prosperous life together.

11 October 1894, Vol. 7, No. 22

Wednesday evening, Oct. 3, 1894, in the home of the officiating minister, Bellville, O., Mr. J.B. Hart and Miss Maggie Shaffer and Mr. G.G. Purdy and Miss Verda Shaffer were united in holy marriage by Elder C.S. Cliffe.  May love, joy, peace and prosperity be theirs.

One of the prettiest early fall weddings of the season was solemnized at the residence of Mr. & Mrs. U.F. Armstrong on Wednesday evening, Oct. 3d.  Their daughter, Miss Libbie, who has been in Washington, D.C., the past five years, was married to Dr. L. Clay Woodson, of Ga., but who at present resides in Washington.  Rev. W.W. Anderson of Loudonville, performed the ceremony.  [a further description of this wedding can be found in the newspaper referenced above]

25 October 1894, Vol. 7, No. 24

Married by Rev. W.F. Barnett on Sunday evening Oct. 21st., 1894.  Mr. Charles Beal and Miss Nannie Jeffers, at the home of the bride's mother, Mrs. Wm. Meeker.  All of Bellville, O.

Pleasant Valley -- Ivan D. Ohler and Miss Rosy Pulver were married last Saturday evening.  They were tendered an old time belling Wednesday evening we understand.

15 November 1894, Vol. 7, No. 27

Married on Monday evening, Nov. 12th., at the residence of John Stofer, by Esq. F.M. Hess, Mr. George Stofer and Miss Daisy B. Conley.

Forest Hall -- Miss Mary Riggle and Mr. Zefariah Stewart / Steward, of Newville, were married at Mansfield on the 5th., by Rev. Dr. Wiles.  May your pathway through life be a success.

29 November 1894, Vol. 7, No. 29

Lexington -- Invitations are out for the wedding of Mr. Frank Barnett and Miss Alma Cantwell, on Thursday, at 10 a.m., at the bride's home.

06 December 1894, Vol. 7, No. 30

Timothy Ridge -- It is reported that Mrs. Jane Teeter and Alf Brocaw, started for Oregon on Monday morning.  They are to be married at Mansfield before starting on their journey.

Bellville -- Married at the M.E. parsonage, Nov. 23d., Harvey Greer and Jennie F. Henderson, both of Butler.  Officiating minister J.H. Deeds.

Married at the home of the bride's parents, Thursday, November 29.  Mr. C.W. Gatton to Miss Grace Phiel.  The wedding was private -- only the families of the contracting parties being present.
