From the INDEPENDENT-STAR (Bellville)

04 May 1889, Vol. 2, No. 4

MARRIED -- At the residence of the bride's mother, Mrs. E. Welty, of Lucas, O., Mr. Delano F. Shafer of this place, and Miss Alice V. McCulley, on April 25th.  Mr. Shafer is well and favorably known in this place as a scholar and a man of fine abilities characterized by sterling integrity and conscientious motives in all his duties.  He is at present the superintendent of our union schools, through work and enterprise being his constant aim and his efforts have been rewarded with success and appreciated by the public in general.  The bride has ever been foremost in the social events at her home and leaves a vacancy in the social ranks that will be difficult to fill, and will be sadly missed by her companions and friends.  This was a very select affair only a few near friends and relatives being present.  A number of valuable presents were received.

Bellville -- Mr. Job S. Olin and Miss Annetta McElroy were married at the residence of the bride's parents near Mansfield, May 15th., at 11 o'clock a.m.  Mr. & Mrs. H. Farber, Mr. & Mrs. Theodore Dean, Mr. & Mrs. Koerber, Misses Jennie and Edith Steel, of this place, attended the wedding.

Married, in Bellville, June 2nd., by 'Squire Howard, David Hilderbrand and Miss Mary C. Long.

Newville -- MARRIED -- On last Thursday, Mr. William Smith and Miss Ella Snavely.  May peace and prosperity follow them.

Mt. Carmel -- MARRIED -- At the residence of the bride's parents, July 4th., by 'Squire Swank, Mr. Ezra Beal and Miss Romilda Swank.

17 October 1889, Vol. 2, No. 27

Married -- at the residence of the bride's parents, Mr. & Mrs. A. Miller, two miles east of Johnsville, on Tuesday, Oct. 15th., Mr. James Sword, of Wabash, Ind. and Miss Emma Miller by the Rev. S.G. Dornblazer.  

Petersburgh -- Married, at the residence of the bride's parents, Oct. 10th., by Rev. Philpott, Mr. George Fairchild, of Pennsylvania, and Miss Cora, daughter of Samuel Hamilton, Esq.  The happy couple started the same day on a tour of the far west.

24 October 1889, Vol. 2, No. 28

Married -- At the residence of Rev. Wiles, Mansfield, O., on Sunday, Oct. 20th., Mr. John Snyder and Mrs. Mary E. Ritter.  Both are favorably and well known in this vicinity, and have the best wishes of a host of friends on their new venture.

Married -- At the Universalist parsonage in Bellville, O., on the evening of the 17th. inst., by Rev. C.P. Nash, Mr. Wm. F. Nelson and Miss Lucy Rich, all of Ashland, O.  The bridegroom is a brother of John C. Nelson, of Bellville, of the firm of Faust & Nelson.

Lexington -- Mr. O. Gass and Miss Laura Graham were married at the bride's home -- Wednesday, Rev. Street officiated.  A number of fine presents were received.  The happy pair left for Washington City, accompanied by Mr. & Mrs. Sword, also on their bridal tour.
