The Richland pioneers gathered in convention at Mansfield, July 4, together with their wives and descendants.  Those present were:

Prof. D.K. Andrews of Hayesville and William Bogart of Republic were also present.

A carefully prepared, spicy and entertaining paper on "The Pioneer Women" was read by Mrs. L.L. Patterson, which elicited much applause from the old "Blazers of the way of civilizations, culture and prosperity."

"The possibilities of an American citizen" was scholarly and edifyingly discussed by Dr. George Mitchell.

Other addresses bearing on the day and "The people who here celebrate it" were made A.J. Baughman, Rev. F.P. Sanders, H.P. Davies, John Ward, R.C. Brown, J. Wigdon and Rev. H.L. Wiles.
