Alger 06 Jan. Nora C. Alger vs. William H. Alger.  Civil Action.  Divorce.  Jesse LaDow, attorney.
  17 Feb. Saturday.  Judge Wolfe this afternoon granted a divorce to Nora C. Alger from Will M. Alger, upon the grounds of failure to provide.
Andrew 24 Nov. Saturday.  In Common Pleas Court today Frances Andrew, through her attorney, H.B. Dirlam, filed a petition for a divorce from James Andrew.  The plaintiff's allegations are too vulgar for publication.  They were married in this city in 1882 and have two children.
Aungst 01 Sept. Lavina L. Aungst vs. Alexander Aungst.  Divorce and alimony.  H.B. Dirlam, attorney.
Ball 11 Aug. Friday.  Elizabeth Ball, through her attorneys, Bradford & Moorehouse, has filed a petition in Common Pleas Court for divorce from her husband, George W. Ball.  They were married January 6, 1894, and have one child 7 weeks old.  The allegations are failure to provide and extreme cruelty.  The plaintiff asks for the custody of the child and a temporary injunction restraining the defendant from entering her house or disposing of any of their property.
  24 Nov. Saturday.  In Common Pleas Court this morning Judge Wolfe granted Elizabeth Ball a divorce from George N. Ball.
Balliett 02 June Friday.  Mrs. Drusilla Balliett, through her attorneys, Daser, Bricker & Workman, has filed a petition in Common Pleas Court asking for a divorce from David Balliett, a farmer living near Lucas.  They were married in 1863, and have three children, the youngest of which is an invalid.  Habitual drunkenness and extreme cruelty are charged.  The plaintiff asks for a divorce, alimony and an allowance to support the invalid child.
Beardsley 06 Jan. Nancy M. Beardsley vs. John S. Beardsley.  Divorce.  Jesse E. LaDow, attorney.
  24 Feb. Jesse E. LaDow today secured a divorce for his client, Nancy M. Beardsley, from John S. Beardsley.  They were married in Nelson, Portage County, Dec. 23d, 1864, and have three grown children.  The grounds for the action were failure to provide for thirteen years and habitual drunkenness for the past three years.
Beckmaster 24 Nov. Friday.  In Common Pleas Court today Maggie R. Beckmaster filed a petition asking for a divorce from Jeremiah A. Beckmaster.  They were married at Loudonville in 1880, and have one child, aged 13 years.  In her petition the plaintiff alleges neglect of duty and willful absence, and asks for the custody of the child.
Bennett 07 April Thursday.  In Common Pleas court today Eva M. Bennett filed a petition for divorce from her husband, Garfield G. Bennett, a well known man of this city.  They were married Jan. 23rd., 1890 at La Grange, Ind.  Two children were born of this marriage, a son aged 2 years and 8 months, and a daughter aged 1 year.  Plaintiff avers in her petition extreme cruelty on the part of the defendant at divers times, when he struck her in the face and called her vile names.  The plaintiff seeks divorce, custody of the children, reasonable alimony and prays that defendant be enjoined from disposing of her property, which he now holds in his possession.
Bird 11 Aug. Saturday.  The divorce case of Ella Bird vs. Arthur Bird was heard by Judge Brucker yesterday afternoon.  The defendant did not appear, and the divorce was granted on the allegations of willful absence of more than three years and failure to provide.  Alimony was allowed in the sum of $500.
Bollinger 08 Dec. Wednesday.  Nancy J. Bollinger, through her attorneys Cummings & McBride, filed suit in Common Pleas Court today to recover alimony from her husband, Michael Bollinger.  They were married in Bellville in 1870 and have four children, one of whom is a minor.  In her petition the plaintiff alleges extreme cruelty and asks that an injunction be served against James E. Howard, who has been given power of attorney by her husband, from disposing of the defendant's real estate located in Bellville.  The plaintiff also asks that a reasonable allowance be made for her support during the pendency of the suit.  The restraining order was issued by Judge Wolfe.
Bridges 15 Sept. Wednesday.  Martha Bridges, through her attorneys, Donnell & Marriott, has filed a petition in Common Pleas Court to recover alimony from her husband, Charles H. Bridges.  In her petition the plaintiff alleges neglect of duty, failure to provide and adultery with one Sarah Layman, with whom the defendant is now living.  The plaintiff also asks that the defendant be restrained from disposing of his property.  A temporary restraining order was issued by Judge Wolfe today.
Briggs 11 Aug. Wednesday.  Annie Briggs has begun action in Probate Court for a divorce from her husband, Wm. R. Briggs.  They were married at Shelby, on March 16th., 1882, and have three children.  The plaintiff alleges in her petition that her husband is living in adultery with one Lula Criswell, alias Lotta Johnson, in Cleveland, and has failed to provide for his family since February, 1893.  She asks for the custody of her three children and reasonable alimony to support her family. 
Cook 24 Nov. Saturday.  In Common Pleas Court today Ida K. Cook, through her attorney, M. May, filed a petition for a divorce from S. Grant Cook.  They were married at Galion in 1891 and have one son.  In her petition the plaintiff alleges willful absence and asks for alimony, the custody of the child, and to be restored to her maiden name of Woodering.
Crosier 03 Nov. Friday.  In Probate Court today Nora Crosier commenced suit for divorce from Albert Crosier.  They were married in November, 1891.  In her petition the plaintiff alleges failure to provide for more than three years.
DeWitt 13 Oct. Friday.  In Common Pleas Court, Agnes I. DeWitt, through her attorneys, Donnell & Marriott, began suit for a divorce from her husband, Daniel DeWitt.  They were married in this city in 1879 and have one child.  In her petition the plaintiff alleges willful absence for more than three years.
Dickson 25 Aug. Monday.  In Probate Court today John W. Dickson was granted a divorce from Martha A. Dickson.
Dixon 30 June Tuesday.  In Common Pleas Court today John W. Dixon filed a petition for divorce from his wife, Amanda Dixon, through his attorneys, Laser, Bricker & Workman.  They were married May 9th., 1881.  They were married May 9th., 1881, and three children were born of their marriage.  The plaintiff charges that the defendant committed adultery with one H.L. Hall on the 23d. day of June, 1894.  He asks for a divorce and the custody for the children.
Edwards 06 Jan. Tuesday.  Bell, Brinkerhoff & Mengert today filed a petition for Isabelle Edwards for divorce from Charles C. Edwards, on the grounds of abandonment.  They were married March 22, 1883 and have four children.
  03 Mar. Saturday.  A divorce has been granted by Judge Wolfe to Isabella Edwards from Chalmers C. Edwards, upon the grounds of abandonment.  They were married March 22, 1883 in Wayne County, and have four children, custody of which was given the plaintiff.
Elton 24 Feb. Tuesday.  In Common Please Court today Albert William Elton, through his attorneys, Connolly & Funk, commenced proceedings for divorce from Anna Elton.  They were married April 22, 1889 at Berlin, Wisconsin.  The grounds upon which the action is brought is that on Sept. 20, 1891, the defendant, it is alleged, was living in adulterous intercourse with Karl Heyman, at West Superior, Wisconsin.
Felumlee 11 Aug. Tuesday.  Cora Felumlee has begun divorce proceedings in Common Pleas Court against George Felumlee.  They were married Aug. 24, 1882.  The allegations are willful absence for more than three years.
Fike 17 Feb. Saturday.  In Common Pleas Court, Maggie Fike filed a petition for divorce, and restoration to her maiden name, from ---- L. Fike.  They were married in this city, Oct. 7, 1890.  The allegations were failure to provide.  Fike is at present in the Ashland jail on the charge of larceny.
Fraser 29 Dec. Thursday.  In Probate Court today Elizabeth J. Fraser, through her attorneys, Skiles & Skiles, filed a petition for a divorce from Richard J. Fraser.  They were married in Canada, in October, 1883.  In her petition the plaintiff alleges that the defendant has for three years failed to provide for her and at divers times has threatened to kill her and compelled her to leave home.
Greer 15 Sept. Wednesday.  In Common Pleas Court today Judge Wolfe rendered his decision in the divorce suits of J.M. Myer vs. Lovina Myer and John Greer vs. Aparmia Greer.  The Judge refused to allow decree for divorce in either case. 
Greer 27 Oct. Tuesday.  In Common Pleas Court yesterday afternoon Maria Greer was granted a divorce from W.W. Greer.  In her petition the plaintiff alleged habitual drunkenness and failure to provide.  The parties live at Butler.
Grimwood 24 Mar. Sidney Grimwood vs. Tacey Grimwood.  Civil Action. Divorce.  C.W. Marriott, attorney.
Grove 20 Oct. Tuesday.  In Probate Court today Frank B. Grove began suit for a divorce from Alice M. Grove.  They were married in April, 1881, and have one son aged eleven years.  In his petition the plaintiff alleges willful absence for more than three years and asks for the custody of the child.
Hague 24 Feb. Mary A. Hague vs. John F. Hague.  Divorce granted.
  24 Feb. In Common Pleas Court today the divorce case of Mary A. Hague vs. John F. Hague was heard.  The plaintiff avers that they were married Oct. 14, 1890, and resided in Columbus.  She alleges failure to provide and extreme cruelty in that he urged the plaintiff to allow him to kill their child as soon as it was born and threatened her life if she refused.  Two days before the birth of the child he left Columbus in company with one Kate Fleming, with whom he is now living in adultery.  The defendant is the only child of wealthy parents.  Judge Wolfe granted the divorce, restoration to her maiden name of Mary A. Cline, and custody of the child.  Skiles & Skiles were the attorneys for the plaintiff.
Hall 20 Jan. Saturday.  Mrs. H.L. Hall was this afternoon granted a divorce from her husband, Dr. H.L. Hall.
  27 Feb. Martha J. Hall vs. H.L. Hall.  Divorce granted.
Hamblin 02 June In probate court today Ida Hamblin, through her attorneys, McCray & Robison, filed a petition for divorce from her husband, Ira Hamblin, son of W.B. Hamblin, of this city.  They were married on July 3rd., 1889.  The plaintiff alleges extreme cruelty at various times, and says that on Feb. 20th., 1890, the defendant assaulted her and on July 20th., 1893, he again assaulted her and threatened to kill her.  For the past 3 years he has failed to provide suitable food and clothing on account of his dissipation and profligacy.  The plaintiff asks divorce, alimony and restoration to her maiden name, Ida Chronister.
  21 July Tuesday.  In Probate Court today Judge Brucker gave a decree of divorce to Ida Hamblin from Ira H. Hamblin.  Cruelty and failure to provide were the allegations.  This is the first divorce granted in the Probate Court of Richland County.  It was only last winter that the Legislature granted to the Probate Court jurisdiction in divorce cases.
Hamilton 18 Aug. Saturday.  Cora Hamilton has begun action in Common Pleas court for a divorce from her husband, David T. Hamilton.  They were married July 1st., 1893.  The plaintiff alleges in her petition that her husband is guilty of habitual drunkenness and neglects to support her.  She asks for reasonable alimony for her support from different pieces of real estate in the defendant's possession.
Huffman 21 July Saturday.  In Common Pleas Court today Mary Huffman filed a petition for divorce from her husband, Christian Huffman.  She alleges willful neglect and also says that on account of his profligacy, idleness and dissipation she has been forced to live off the charity of friends and her own earnings.  She prays for divorce and restoration to her maiden name, Mary Deardorf.  They were married June 6th., 1893.
Lang 08 Sept. Emma Lang has begun suit in Common Pleas Court for a divorce from Otto H. Lang.  They were married April 12, 1893 at Covington, Ky.  In her petition the plaintiff makes a very sensational allegation.  She says that at the time she married Lang he represented that he was unmarried, but she has since learned that he had a wife living, to whom he was then legally married.  The plaintiff also alleges that the defendant has failed to provide for her.
  20 Oct. Saturday.  In Common Pleas Court this morning Judge Wolfe annulled the marriage of Emma Thornton and Otto Lang on a petition filed by Mrs. Thornton alleging that the defendant had two wives and that their marriage was not legal.
Leischner 22 Sept. Tuesday.  Helen Leischner, through her attorney, H.B. Dirlam, has filed a petition in Common Pleas Court for a divorce from Edward Leischner.  They were married April 12th., 1884.  In her petition the plaintiff alleges willful absence for more than three years.
  17 Nov. Friday.  In Common Pleas Court today, Helen Leischner was granted a divorce from Edward Leischner.  The allegation was willful absence.
Lemley 20 Jan. Saturday.  James Lemley was granted a divorce in Common Pleas Court, this morning, from Mary Lemley.
Lemley 15 Dec. Monday.  In Common Pleas Court today John B. Lemley, through his attorneys, filed a petition for a divorce from Eva M. Lemley.  They were married Jan. 13th., 1892 at Richland, Iowa, and have one child.  In his petition the plaintiff alleges gross neglect of duty.
McKowen 12 May Tuesday.  Samuel McKowen, through his attorneys, Connolly & Funk, file a petition in Common Pleas Court today asking for a divorce from his wife, Nannie McKowen.  They were married at Mt. Vernon in 1885.  The plaintiff alleges that while living in Columbus the defendant on Dec. 4th., 1891, left his residence with one, Wm. Maccabee, and has been living in adultery with him since then.  McKowen is a laboring man in this city.
Meyer / Myer 26 May Sunday.  Henry & Reed, attorneys, filed a petition for divorce in Common Pleas Court yesterday afternoon.  The plaintiff is John M. Meyer and in his petition he alleges that his wife, Lovina Meyer, made life a burden to him, drove him away from home and is guilty of infidelity.  They were married in 1887, at Washington, Kas., where the wife is still living.  Meyer left her a little over a year ago and came to this city.
  15 Sept. Wednesday.  In Common Pleas Court today Judge Wolfe rendered his decision in the divorce suits of J.M. Myer vs. Lovina Myer and John Greer vs. Aparmia Greer.  The Judge refused to allow decree for divorce in either case.
Nell 27 Oct. Saturday.  In Common Pleas Court today Mary Nell, through her attorneys, Laser, Bricker & Workman, commenced suit for a divorce from Frank Nell.  They were married May, 1894, in this city.  In her petition the plaintiff alleges that at the date of her marriage the defendant had a wife living, with whom he was legally intermarried;  also the defendant failed and willfully neglected to provide plaintiff with the necessaries of life, although he has a sufficient income to do so, being the owner of $2,000 worth of property.  The plaintiff asks that she be granted sufficient alimony to support her and to enjoin the defendant from disposing of his property, and also to enjoin the renters of the same from paying their rents to the defendant.
  03 Nov. Friday.  In the alimony suit of Mary Nell against Frank Nell, in Common Pleas Court, Judge Wolfe today allowed the plaintiff $40 during the pendency of the divorce suit.
Ohl 27 Jan. John Ohl vs. Rebecca Ohl.  Divorce.
Pitman 25 Aug. Sunday.  Rosa Pitman has begun proceedings in Common Pleas Court against Henry Pitman for divorce.  They were married last October.  The plaintiff alleges in her petition that the defendant has committed adultery on several occasions with one May McFarland.
  20 Oct. Saturday.  In Common Pleas Court this afternoon Judge Wolfe granted a divorce to Rosina Pitman from her husband, Henry Pitman.  The allegations were neglect of duty and extreme cruelty.
Rater 30 June Friday.  Geo. Rater and his wife, Anna Rater, who reside on South Adams Street, yesterday decide to separate and signed written articles of agreement.  Domestic trouble is the cause of the separation.
Raub 20 Oct. Wednesday.  In Probate Court today, Mattie Raub, through her attorneys, Douglass & Farber, has begun action for a divorce from William F. Raub.  They were married in 1880 at Tiffin.  In her petition the plaintiff alleges neglect of duty, failure to provide and extreme cruelty.
Riley 20 Oct. Friday.  In Common Pleas Court, Louisa Riley, through her attorneys, Seward & Bricker, has commenced action against William Riley for divorce.  They were married in 1880 and have one son 13 years of age.  In her petition the plaintiff alleges willful absence for more than three years and failure to support herself and son.  She asks that she be given the custody of the child.
Stevens 24 Nov. Wednesday.  In Common Pleas Court today Alfred B. Stevens filed a petition for divorce from Clara B. Stevens.  They were married in this city in March, 1891.  In his petition the plaintiff alleges that the defendant committed adultery with Elmer Wigton, at the home of James Gwin, on North Main Street.
Taylor 15 Dec. Tuesday.  In Probate Court Wm. Taylor, through his attorneys, Henry & Reed, has filed a petition for divorce from Pearl A. Taylor.  They were married in this city May 22d., 1892.  In his petition the plaintiff alleges that James F. Thomas and the defendant were criminally intimate at 275 N. Diamond Street on Dec. 2d., 1894.
Uhlich 25 Aug. Maggie Uhlich has begun suit in Common Pleas Court for a divorce from her husband, Hudson Uhlich.  They were married in this city December 5, 1886, and have three children.  In her petition the plaintiff alleges that the defendant is guilty of gross neglect of duty and fails to provide clothing and food for his family, who live from the charity of friends.  Mrs. Uhlich asks for reasonable alimony and estimates that her husband's property is worth $75,000.  The plaintiff also prays for an injunction restraining the Mansfield Savings and Loan Co. from allowing the defendant to dispose of his stock in that institution.
Waddell 02 June Tuesday.  Agatha Waddell, through her attorneys, Laser, Bricker & Workman, filed a petition for divorce from her husband, John F. Waddell.  Extreme cruelty and the calling of vile epithets is alleged in the petition.  The plaintiff desires a divorce and restoration to her maiden name, Agatha Chapel.
  22 Sept. Tuesday.  In Probate Court yesterday afternoon, Judge Brucker granted a divorce to Mrs. Agatha Waddell from her husband, James Waddell.  In her petition the plaintif alleged extreme cruelty and neglect of duty.
Walters 20 Jan. Tuesday.  Irene Walters today through her attorneys, Laser & Bricker, filed a petition in Common Pleas Court, praying for a divorce from her husband, Frank Walters, and custody of their children.  They were married June 16, 1877, and have five children.  The plaintiff alleges willful absence for more than three years.
Warrell 18 Aug. Saturday.  In Probate Court today, Elizabeth Warrell filed a petition for divorce from Frank E. Warrell.  They were married May 22d., 1889.  The plaintiff alleges willful absence and neglect for more than three years.  She requests a reasonable amount be allowed her as alimony.
  15 Dec. Tuesday.  In Probate Court today, Elizabeth Warrell was granted a divorce from Frank C. Warrell, on the grounds of willful absence and failure to provide.
West 07 April Mina West vs. Charles W. West.  Divorce Granted.  Maiden name restored and alimony allowed in sum of $300.
Wilson 06 Jan. Friday.  Mary E. Wilson today commenced divorce proceedings against William Wilson on the grounds of habitual drunkenness and extreme cruelty.  They were married in this city, Sept. 21, 1877, and have one child, Clinton, now 11 years of age.
Winski / Winsky 10 Nov. Friday.  In Probate Court today Lilly Winsky filed a suit against her husband, Rudolph Winsky, for alimony.  They were married Sept. 29, 1894.  In her petition the plaintiff alleges neglect of duty and failure to provide and asks that she be granted a sufficient sum to enable her to live.  The Humphryes Manufacturing Co. is made garnishee.
  15 Dec. Saturday.  The alimony suit of Mrs. Lillie Winski vs. Rudolph Winski was heard in Probate Court this morning and Judge Brucker allowed the plaintiff $700 alimony.  On Sept. 28th., 1894 the plaintiff, who was then unmarried, had the defendant arrested on a warrant issued by 'Squire Howard, of Bellville, on a paternity charge.  Winski compromised the matter by marrying the plaintiff, but deserted her the following day and has since refused to live with her or support her.  Both parties live in this city.  Bowers & Black were the attorneys for the plaintiff.
Wise 15 Sept. Friday.  Samuel Wise, of Butler, through his attorneys, L.B. Reed and George Moorehouse, began suit in Common Pleas Court today for divorce from Frances Wise.  They were married in this city on Oct. 12th., 1864, and have three children, all of whom are married.  Willful absence and neglect of duty is alleged.
