ABERLE vs. ABERLE

Mrs. Grace Aberle has sued Charles F. Aberle for divorce and alimony for adultery with Bell Woodring at Jess.  Brown's.  Louis and Julia Vonhof are made defendants on account of the former being trustee of the Aberle estate against the disposition of which an injunction is asked.   [MANSFIELD HERALD:  03 October 1889, Vol. 39, No. 46]

BALLIETT vs. BALLIETT

Lillie Balliett has sued for divorce from James Balliett on the ground of wilful absence.  They were married July 30, 1882, and have one child.  [MANSFIELD HERALD:  15 August 1889, Vol. 39, No. 39]

BOWIE vs. BOWIE

Della Bowie wants a divorce from John for failure to provide.  They were married May 26, 1885.  [MANSFIELD HERALD:  24 October 1889, Vol. 39, No. 49]

BURNS vs. BURNS

Jennie Burns has commenced action for divorce from Wm. Burns for habitual drunkenness and negligence.  Married December 24, 1873;  three children.  [MANSFIELD HERALD:  08 August 1889, Vol. 39, No. 38]  

A divorce from Wm. G. Burns and custody of four children was granted Jennie Burns by Judge McCray Monday.  [MANSFIELD HERALD:  10 October 1889, Vol. 39, No. 47]

CARR vs. CARR

Jennie Carr has sued for divorce from Newton Carr for wilful absence. They were married March 15, 1872 at Marion.  [MANSFIELD HERALD:  18 July 1889, Vol. 39, No. 35]

DAUGHERTY vs. DAUGHERTY

Mrs. Allen Daugherty has sued her husband for divorce on the ground of adultery with Pearl Arlington, April 20, 1889.  They were married May 16th., 1888.  Her maiden name being Emma Thompson.  [THE MANSFIELD HERALD: 05 September 1889, Vol. 39, No. 42]

DAVIS vs. DAVIS

Margaret A. Davis was granted a divorce from Wm. H. Davis, Saturday, by Judge May, and custody of children and $500 alimony, on the ground of wilful absence and failure to provide.  They were married in 1872 in Hardin county.  [MANSFIELD HERALD:  31 October 1889, Vol. 39, No. 50]

ELLIOTT vs. ELLIOTT

Saturday Josiah Elliott, through Seward & Fickes, brought suit in common pleas court for divorce from Ida Elliott.  The parties were married February 24, 1881, and one child, Arthur, aged about three years, was born.  The plaintiff alleges that on June 1, 1889, and at various times ever since the defendant committed adultery with one Aaron Frank at the residence and home of said plaintiff, in Jackson township.  He also charges that on Nov. 9, 1889, the defendant abandoned plaintiff and his home and left the place of her residence with the said Aaron Frank and has been and now is living in adultery with him.  Plaintiff asks for divorce and custody of the child.  The defendant is the woman who recently eloped from Jackson township as stated in these columns a few days ago.  [MANSFIELD HERALD:  28 November 1889, Vol. 40, No. 2]

Josiah Elliott was granted a divorce from Ida Elliott Saturday.  A letter was read wherein the defendant confessed adultery with Aaron Franks, with whom she subsequently eloped.  [MANSFIELD HERALD:  06 February 1890, Vol. 40, No. 12]

FURGUSON vs. FURGUSON

Judge McCray granted a divorce to Wm. Furguson Tuesday evening from Nettie Furguson on the ground of neglect of duty and extreme cruelty.  Furguson is a Richland county farmer.  [MANSFIELD HERALD:  03 October 1889, Vol. 39, No. 46]

GRANT vs. GRANT

Samantha Grant asks for a divorce from L.G. Grant, on the grounds of habitual drunkenness, cruelty and wilful absence.  [MANSFIELD HERALD:  01 August 1889, Vol. 39, No. 37] 

A divorce was ... granted to Samantha Grant from L.D. Grant on the ground of drunkenness and extreme cruelty.  Mrs. Grant comes from Alliance, her husband being a moulder.  She is at present a nurse at C.E. McBride's.  [MANSFIELD HERALD:  03 October 1889, Vol. 39, No. 46]

GUTZWILER vs. GUTZWILER

Agnes Gutzwiler has sued her husband, Henry, for alimony.  [MANSFIELD HERALD:  19 September 1889, Vol. 39, No. 44]

HARTMAN vs. HARTMAN

Ike Hartman will file a cross petition for divorce and a half dozen businessmen will be charged with adultery with his wife.  E.J. Steckel is his attorney.  [MANSFIELD HERALD:  08 August 1889, Vol. 39, No. 38]

HILL vs. HILL

The circuit court allowed Mrs. Maggie Hill $1800 alimony in the celebrated case against her husband, Benjamin C. Hill.  The amount is to be paid in annual installments of $200, $250 and $300.  There was no divorce or legal separation.  [MANSFIELD HERALD:  03 October 1889, Vol. 39, No. 46]

HIVELY vs. HIVELY

Eliza Hively has been granted a divorce from Adam Hively.  [MANSFIELD HERALD:  26 September 1889, Vol. 39, No. 45]

HUFFY vs. HUFFY

Hattie Huffy was granted a divorce from John Huffy, Monday, on the grounds of cruelty and failure to provide.  [MANSFIELD HERALD:  18 July 1889, Vol. 39, No. 35]

JOHNSON vs. JOHNSON

Sarah Ann Johnson has brought suit for divorce from Joseph B. Johnson on account of wilful absence, cruelty and adultery with Ann Hart.  They were married January 6, 1886 and have one child.  [MANSFIELD HERALD:  29 August 1889, Vol. 39, No. 41]

KARLE vs. KARLE

Mrs. Michael Karle has brought suit for divorce from her husband and all money and injuction to restrain him from selling his two houses.  They were married June 28, 1880.  Karle is the tailor who resides on West Bloom street several times reported to the mayor for wife beating.  Lewis Brucker is her attorney.  [MANSFIELD HERALD:  21 November 1889, Vol. 40, No. 1]

MERRELL vs. MERRELL

Hattie V. Merrell was ... divorced from D.C.A. Merrell.  [MANSFIELD HERALD:  17 October 1889, Vol. 39, No. 48]

MOORES vs. MOORES

Henry Moores has sued Martha Moores for divorce on account of wilful absence.  They were married Nov. 3, 1885.  [MANSFIELD HERALD:  05 September 1889, Vol. 39, No. 42]

SCHOTT vs. SCHOTT

Sophia Schott was granted a divorce Saturday from Adam Schott on the grounds of wilful absence. Schott is a deserter from the regular army and now a prisoner at Leavenworth.  [MANSFIELD HERALD:  11 July 1889, Vol. 39, No. 34]

SHAFER vs. SHAFER

Mrs. Frank Shafer, through her attorney, W.L. Sewell, has brought suit against her husband for divorce, alimony and custody of her two children on the ground of extreme cruelty.  The parties were married in January, 1886, and live near Lexington.  In her petition it is alleged that defendant struck her with a poker, drove the help out of the house and compelled her to milk in the rain two weeks after confinement.  She also alleges that he called her vile names.  The plaintiff asks that Shafer be restrained from disposing of his property, worth about $5000.  The plaintiff's maiden name was Elizabeth M. Kell.  The children are aged 21 months and 4 weeks.  A temporary injunction was granted.  [MANSFIELD HERALD: 10 October 1889, Vol. 39, No. 47]

SHRINER vs. SHRINER

Theresa Shriner was granted a divorce from Harvey Shriner, Tuesday, and $500 alimony and custody of child.  [MANSFIELD HERALD:  18 July 1889, Vol. 39, No. 35]

SUPER vs. SUPER

Effie S. Super was granted a divorce ... from Geo. W. and custody of children.  Adultery was charged with Mrs. Ike Hartman.   [MANSFIELD HERALD:  10 October 1889, Vol. 39, No. 47]

VIETMYER vs. VIETMYER

Martha Vietmyer has sued Henry W. for divorce on the ground of adultery with Millie Anderson at Columbus, where he resides.  They were married Feb. 6, 1886 at Shreve.  Bell & Brinkerhoff are her attorneys.  [MANSFIELD HERALD:  07 November 1889, Vol. 39, No. 51]

Thursday, Detective Cadwell arrested Vietmyer and his paramour at a Columbus boarding house where they were living as man and wife.  Vietmayer was fined $10 and costs and the woman $5.00 and costs and both got one day in jail.  The man paid the fines and costs and arranged with Attorney Geo. Brinkerhoff, of this city, to pay his wife alimony.  [MANSFIELD HERALD:  14 November 1889, Vol. 39, No. 52]

WIGLE vs. WIGLE

Fred B. Wigle's wife, Martella J., has commenced action for divorce on the ground of adultery with Maude Houghton at the West House, Sandusky, July 4th., of last year, and also with others since.  Fred and Martela were married at Canton, June 21, 1874.  [MANSFIELD HERALD:  05 September 1889, Vol. 39, No. 42]  

Martilla J. Wigle was granted a divorce from Fred B., Saturday, on the ground of adultery, and was allowed $500 alimony.  [MANSFIELD HERALD:  17 October 1889, Vol. 39, No. 48]

WILSON vs. WILSON

Mr. Geo. H. Wilson says that when he married Miss Culp he married her to have a companion through life, but is sadly disappointed, and now since traveling over two thousand miles on purpose to take her to a home that any poor man's wife might be proud of, has come to the conclusion that all women in this world are not to be depended upon by a person after an absence of a few short months.  Since coming back to Mansfield he has tried to see his wife and talk to her, but has been refused the privilege and will now enter suit for a divorce on the grounds of a refusal to do the duties of a wife for him, although he avers that he loves his wife from the bottom of his heart and would glady go to housekeeping here if she would only come with him even if he had to lose the amount he has invested in the south.  [MANSFIELD HERALD:  05 December 1889, Vol. 40, No. 3]
