Miss E.A. BELL is again at home.

A Select School for little children will commence Monday, July 12th., in the primary school room in Bellville.  -- Mrs. M.M. GARDNER

Mrs. B.O. SMITH and children, of Weedsport, N.Y., are in town on a visit.

On last Friday GEO. BOWERS had killed by dogs six sheep, fourteen wounded, and two were missing.

Mrs. J.E. DORLAND of Concord, N.C., passed through this place last Friday evening, and would have stopped off but the train did not stop.

F.M. FITTING's new house will be two stories, the south part 32x32 feet, with a wing to the north of 25x16 feet.  The cellar wall is commenced.

H.E. GIBSON and wife have returned after having spent a couple of months visiting though the western states.

LEXINGTON.  Eds. Weekly:  Having had business in Lexington that detained me over night, I thought I would give the readers of the WEEKLY a concise description of the town and its business.  It is situated on the B.&O. R.R., nine miles south of Mansfield, and contains seven or eight hundred inhabitants, mostly males and females, particularly the latter.  There are at present two grocery stores, and another one to be started soon, one dry goods store, one drug store, two millinery stores -- minus one that was recently drowned out, one watch-maker and gunsmith, one cigar maker, and one hotel, though not kept in the most approved modern Style, is made up by courtesies extended by the landlord and landlady.  O, yes, I like to have forgotten there are five churches and a seminary of learning.  I will notice in conclusion, a dozen or more persons that are not engaged in any business, who are not lazy, but sitting around whittling stove boxes agree with them much better than work.  There is also one drinking saloon, where men can drink at pleasure and get sober at leisure.  -- ON THE WING.

LAFFERTY-PALM.  MARRIED, At the Parsonage of the Congregational Church, Lexington, Ohio, June 17th, 1875, by the Pastor, J.G. Aikman, Mr. A.T. LAFFERTY and Miss MOLLIE PALM, both of Bellville, Ohio.

DIED, At Newville, Ohio, July 3rd., 1875, BENJAMIN HARTER, aged 28 years.

Rev. P.H. EBRIGHT, of Perrysville, O., will preach at the M.E. Church in this place next Sabbath at 10½ o'clock A.M.

The Council of Bellville desire to call the attention of our citizens to the fact that they will enforce the law requiring all persons to keep their cattle off the streets and roads at night.  By Order of Council.

JAMES AMOS, of Noble Co., Ind., is in this vicinity on a visit.

Our thanks are due Mr. N. VANDORN for raspberries, the first of the season, left at our office.  He says that he will not have more than one-third of the ordinary crop.

J.E. TINKEY has erected a new barn on his saw mill property.

Dr. T.T. AUSTIN has made a very nice improvement to his property by way of a new stable.

H. FAUS' place of business will hereafter be recognized by the red boot.

A new pavement is laid in front of Dr. A.L. BEACH's residence.  It will soon be extended to Main Street.

Several new houses in town are in progress of erection:  L. HARRINGTON's on West Street, near railroad, also SUSIE ZIMMERS near Presbyterian Church, and A. STEEL is finishing up his new house on Bell Street.

SHULER & WALTERS have put up their portable saw mill at HOWARD & Son's log yard, for the purpose of sawing up the logs.  The water is so low that not much dependence can be put in water power any more.  Mssrs. HOWARD and Son, however, are having the machinery made, to put in a saw to run by stream, which will be ready to use in a month or two.

ROLL OF HONOR -- The following persons have subscribed and paid for THE BELLVILLE WEEKLY for one year, since our issue of last week:  Renewals -- J.F. SWADENER, Bellville, O.;  C. FRY, Bellville, O.;  I.N. RUSH, Washington, D.C.;  J.E. SIMPSON, Spring Mills, O.;  EM'L SHAFER, Bellville, O.;  SAM'L LONG, Bellville, O.

Gates and doors should be hung to open inward from the street.  An open gate after night is about as convenient to tumble over as a wheelbarrow, and a sure provocative of profanity.

D. AREHART has returned from the West.  he purchased one hundred and sixty acres of land.  He brought home a sample of the famed grasshopper.  They are very similar to our own, but they may have better flying appliances.

F. BRADDOCK and T. LAFFERTY were thrown from a buggy while crossing the railroad track near Fredericktown, last Thursday, the former receiving a fracture of the left arm near the wrist, and the latter receiving severe injuries of the face and abdomen.  On arriving at this place, Dr. J.B. Lewis was called and dressed their wounds.  They are doing well.
