RCGS has a collection of almost 40, 000 obituaries, obituary notices and death articles in our files. Please note
that some of these can be quite lengthy and some are very brief. Early obituaries are sometimes the only source for information on
an ancestor as birth and deaths were not recorded in Ohio until 1867.
These obituaries come mostly from donations. If you have
obituaries that you do not see in our index, we would welcome copies for our files. You may mail a copy to us, or send a scanned copy
