GOOSHORN, GOSHORN, MCCLURE posted by Eugene Goshorn on Saturday, November 25, 2000

I am trying to confirm information that JOHN SCOTT GOSHORN was born in Garrettsville, Portage County, on April 3, 1842, to John Gooshorn and Frances Riddle McClure. The November 7, 1850 Census for Nelson Twp., Portage County, lists the family of John and Frances Goshorn, both 41, with daughter Margaret, 18, born in Pennsylvania; and Nancy, 16, Robert, 15, Richard McC, 13, Sarah J., 11, JOHN S., nine, Maryette, six, and James, three, all born in Ohio. I am trying to determine if John (and any of the other children) were born in Portage County. John's son, William McClure Goshorn, asserted that his father was born in Garrettsville. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.
