Lional "Jake" Evans

Lionel "Jake" Evans, 69, of 6701 Straight Creek Rd., Waverly, died at 11:45 p.m. Saturday, 18 July 1987, at Riverside Methodist Hospital, Columbus.

Born March 21, 1918, to the late Lonie and Esta (Boggs) Evans in Elliott County, Ky., he was a retired construction heavy equipment operator (Local 18-Columbus) with 35 years of service.


 He married Irene "Tiny" Maloy on Feb 5, 1945.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Mrs. Tampa Ward and Samuel of Waverly; granddaughter Lisa Ward; and foster granddaughter Melissa Nichols; three brothers, Denzel Ross of Lima, Ray Ross and                                                                                                      Mitchell Ross,   both of Waverly; four sisters, Mrs. Hood (Dorothy) Williams of Huntington, W. Va., and Mrs. Harold (Alice) Fyffe, Mrs. Malcolm (Ilene) Blaum and Mrs. Eldon (Loetta) Legg, all of Waverly. He was preceded in death by
his parents, a daughter, Peggy, a brother and a sister.

He was a veteran of World War 11, having served in the European theatre in the U. S. Army, a member of Orient Lodge 321 F&AM, and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 9942 of Beaver.

Services will be held 2 p.m.  Wednesday at Boyer Funeral Home, Waverly, with the Revs. Marion Conkel and Walter Snyder officiating. Interment will be in Omega Cemetery.

Military graveside services will be conducted by VFW Post 9942.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday (today) and from 9 a.m. until the time of service Wednesday.
