Alva Clinton Mustard


     Funeral services for Alva Clinton Mustard, 71 year-old native of Pike County, who died Thursday in Portsmouth General Hospital were held Sunday at Beaver Chapel Church of Christ in Christian Union, where he was a member.
     Death came to Mr. Mustard at 2:52 a.m. in the hospital where he had been admitted on Saturday, May 8th following a stroke.  He resided on Peebles, Route #1almost his entire life and was one of the county's "old time fiddlers".
     Born in Pike County on May 14, 1882, he was the son of Thomas and Elize Copas Mustard.
     His wife, Amy, died in 1917.
     Surviving are a son, Dallas of Peebles, Route #1; a brother, Henry of Elm Grove, and a sister, Mrs. Sarah Humphrey of Fairborn.
     Burial followed in White Oak Cemetery under the direction of Howe Funeral Home of Piketon, where friends called until time for the final rites.
