Mrs. Letitia Renode, born Dec 10, 1792, and gently fell asleep at her daughters, Mrs. Eliza Emmett, in Waverly, (Pike County) Ohio, on the 24th of June 1881.
Her years were more than usually fall to the lot of mortals, being in her 89th year when she died. She had not only lived long , but well. More than half a century she has been humbly and quietly serving Christ and now like a "ripe shock of corn" she has been gathered into the Lord's garner. With the natural infirmity that accompanies age, she had enjoy her usual health till a few moments before her death. After a very brief illness , she began to sink, and said to her daughter, " Liza, I'm going home". And thus "she rests from her labors and her works do follow her." The parting though so long delayed , still brings a pang to many hearts.
The funeral services connected with her burial were held at the residence of Mr. A. M. Pinney ( a relative) in this place Tuesday morning and were conducted by Rev. M. Auer, assisted by Revs. W. W. Rose and Eld. ( Elder) McGuire, and were attended by many of our citizens. She was the mother of Mrs. Lucius Bennett of this place ( Pittsfield, Illinois) and Mr. Charles Renode of Pearl ( Illinois) .
Note: Letitia was the wife of Stephen Renode/Renoud and was married in Fairfield, Connecticut ( my home town) .
