Anise Penn Beekman
Anise Penn Beekman, eldest daughter of Thomas and Mary Leeper Penn was born in Latham, Ohio, April 17, 1872, and departed this life June 17, 1947, at the age of 75 years and a month.
She was converted and baptized and receive into the Christian Union Church at Latham under the pastorate of the Rev. John Treat and remained faithful as a Christian until God translated her to the "Church Triumphant."
She was united in marriage to Charles Burton Beekman on December 26, 1903. To this union was born one son, Robert Orpheus Beekman of Hamilton, Ohio.
In her girlhood days she was left by the death of her mother the care of her younger brothers and sisters and as a housekeeper for her father and after years spent in the home was married, given one son, thus fulfilling the function of true motherhood a second time. So who could understand better that she the wants and needs of those around Her? Thus her life has not been in vain. We, as neighbors and friends, will miss her kindly advice, as we so often referred our various problems to her, with her well stored memory of the countryside happenings.
Now this is all laid aside, folded away with pages of past events, for after long days, days, days of toil, long nights of loneliness and many months, yes, years, of suffering and waiting she fell asleep so calm and peaceful. She has created in our little place around us a world of memories and valuable traits we would do well to imitate.
She leaves her son, Robert O. Beekman of Hamilton, three sisters, Mrs. Francis Toumine of Waverly route 2, Mrs. Melvie Beekman of Idaho route 1, and Mrs. Fairie Beekman, with whom she lived for several years, of Latham, two brothers, Robert Penn of Latham, Carl W. Penn of Waverly Route 2, and one little grandson, Marvin, of Hamilton; many nieces, nephews, neighbors and friends will also miss her genial interest in their youthful problems.
Now we say with the wise woman, "Every good mother's son is, in her eyes a king," and the poet says, "You painted no Madonna's on chapel walls in Rome, but with a touch divine you lived one in your home."

We wish to extend our thanks to all our friends and neighbors who assisted us during the sickness and death of our dear mother; also to Rev. Elliott for his consoling words of comfort, to Mr. Wylie for the manner in which the funeral services were conducted, to Mr. and Mrs. Charles Green and Mrs. Skidmore for the songs and music; also the flower girls and pall bearers.
