Ora Archibald Benner

Ora Archibald Benner, son of Henry and Mary Benner, was born in Perry Township of Pike County, May 20th, 1881, departed this life, after an extended illness, December 11th, 1935, age 54 years 6 months, and 21 days.
"Bob," as he was better known, spent the early part of his life on and around the familiar hills of Pike County, and later moved to Hillsboro, Ohio, where he enlisted in the Spanish American War on the 8th day of August, 1901, and served as a first class gunner for three years and was honorably discharged as a Sergeant, August 10th, 1904.
He was united in marriage to Matilda May Adams, July 21st 1906. To this union was born nine children, six boys and three girls.
The greater part of his life was spent as a minister of the Church of Christ in Christian Union, and in this life making many friends. He was also interested in the lumber business, being a business partner of his brother-in-law, Isaac Adams, until sickness overtook him. He served his county for six years as an attendance officer, and also a member of the Perry and Mifflin Township School Board, and was a member of the Western Rural School Board at the time of his death.
He leaves to mourn their loss, his father, who is now 84 years of age, his wife, Matilda May and nine living children.

That he is dead - he is just away;
With a cheery smile and wave of his hand,
He wandered into the unknown land.
Mild and gentle, as he was brave,
And the sweetest love of his life he gave
To simple things where the flowers grew.
