Eliza Vinton Safford Dougherty

Eliza Vinton Safford Dougherty

Eliza Vinton Stafford Dougherty  - The wife of Forest E. Dougherty and daughter of William C. and Adelaide Safford was born in Waverly January 19, 1864. She died at her home here last Sunday morning. Thus went down in the morning of life a good and true woman. She seemed to stand on life’s summit and look down the vista of coming years roseate with the glow of hope and the joy of expectation. But in a complication of diseases the thread of life was suddenly broken and a happy home of which she was the light and joy was ruthlessly despoiled. There has not been a more sorrowful death here for years. Loving hands smoothed down the pillow of death and agonizing hearts awaited in dread suspense a hopeful change.  But in the dawn there broke the eternal morning.
Mrs. Dougherty was a good and loving wife and mother, a generous neighbor and liberal to deserving charities.
Those who mourn for her untimely death are a husband and daughter, parents, a sister and two brothers with many friends. The funeral services were held on Monday, Rev. Crooks officiating.
