Swan, Ernest W
Ernest Wyann Swan
was born in Jackson County on January 30, 1883 the son of Joseph and Margaret Leffler Swan. He died at his home in Dayton on December 26, 1943 at the age of 60 years 10 months and 26 days. He married Bernice Willis on April 20, 1924. They had two daughters: Velma Louise and Martha Ermadine. He spent most of his life in Beaver. He was a carpenter and a talented musician. He sung at many funerals and other church occassions. He was a member of the old Beaver Band and orchastra, taught piano, and was a church pianist for many years. He helped build one of the churches in Beaver, as well as many nice homes and buildings. He also crafted furniture and some fine violins all by hand. He was raised in a Christian home and had been a member of the Beaver Methodist Church since childhood. He served as Beaver Mayor, member of the village council, Election Board, and a church trustee as well as many civic groups. He had been a member of the Red Men Lodge.
